5 out of 5 eggsGreat Device!

Pros: A very convienient device, especially condiering the problems some mobos can have with from panel UBS ports (static discharge.)

Installation is no mote difficult than a regular floppy drive, and the only other thing you have to do is connent the USB cale for the card readers to the mobo port.

Cons: Using XP, you don't even need drivers to use this device. However, I did run into a few instances when after accessing a Microdrive, the system would not read, or even acknowledge, a CF card that is loaded.

Installing the Siig software, for which I can't quite see the purpose, seems to have rectified that situation. So far it hasn't happened again.

Other Thoughts: Siig is an old company with a great reputation for high quality, and long lasting, products. The cost may be a little more, but it is well worth it.

2 out of 5 eggsAvoid this

Pros: Lots of media access and FDD in one package.
The FDD worked most of the time.

Cons: Very glitchy when it worked. FDD would often lock up Windows.
Usually the Mass storage device would not show up in MyComputer and sometimes it would read media, but not often.

Other Thoughts: The Media readers quit working all together after a year and Siig support is worthless. Responded once with the old "reinstall drivers" routine and no more response after that

5 out of 5 eggsDoes SIIG do anything poorly?

Pros: Great brand name that has always stood behind their products. Well-built, space-saving product is especially useful for those of us who still seem to be using 3.5" floppy diskettes.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: SIIG has indeed been producing awesome PC parts for years. Back in the early 90's, the days when geeks like me were assembling "IBM clone" PC's, SIIG products were a hot item. In fact, until Promise came along, SIIG arguable produced the best IDE/FDD controller cards around. I never once considered purchasing anything less than a SIIG card in those days, and judging from this card reader/floppy drive, their products quality is as high today as it was 15 years ago.

5 out of 5 eggsSIIG-Good Stuff!

Comments: To the guy whose never heard of SIIG...they HAVE been around since the mid 80's, making good quality add-on cards and drive bay items. Owned several add-on cards from SIIG as well as used a couple of their drive bay hubs for different PCs over the years. Excellent quality items, and this one is no exception. Have this in both of my desktop PC's as well as my server. While the price may seem a bit high, the quality of the product and the space savings are well worth it. Works great when plugged into the MoBo header or when plugged via a USB card. (Get a card with an internal port, saves the silliness.) All in all, A+ item, would highly recommend!

5 out of 5 eggs2 for 1 and it works!!!

Comments: Here you have a floppy and card reader all packaged into one drive. It does what it is suppose to and with no problems or glitches and reads various media cards with no delay.

The best thing is you do not have to waste 2 separate bays since this one fit into one 3.5" bay nicely. It also comes with a 5.25" mounting bay in case your case does not have the 3.5" one as many of the newer ones are coming out, espcially the barebone types.

Love it so much, I show it off to my friends who were very impressed and they too replace their floppy drives with this one.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: What can I say, it just works. One of the few internal media card readers out there with a floppy drive. Nice to save on a drive bay.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a great device

Comments: I've never heard of SIIG and was somewhat wary of this product. Nonetheless I bought it to install in a Shuttle XPC where space is at a premium. Well, this 9-in-1 works exactly as advertised and I'm really glad I went for it. It has two connectors in the back, a standard floppy ribbon cable connector plus a USB connector. A nice detail is that they bundle two different USB connectors; a typical USB plug like you have on the back or front of your PC and a 4-pin connector that would plug into the USB pins of most motherboards out there. So you can probably plug this right into your motherboard, otherwise you have to run the USB cable outside of your case and into a USB port. That's kind of ugly, but it does work. The card reader is nice and fast. The front LED changes color when it's reading the floppy vs the cards. SIIG claims to have been making PC addins since the 80's.
