5 out of 5 eggsSolid Usb 2.0 slot

Pros: came in it's own plastic case, not a single item just laying around. nicely packaged.

Works exactly as intended, read and write speads are what is expected and windows automatically installs drivers.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsdoes what it supposed to!

Pros: Easy install, simple product, does what it is supposed to do.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Only way it could have been easier would have been having someone else install it while I kicked back with a brew!

5 out of 5 eggsSIIG 4 Port USB Card

Pros: Easy to install product to give yourself a few extra USB ports with great quality from SIIG.

Cons: The PCI slot can only pass through so much power so that is why an additional power cable may be needed depending on what kind of devices you are connecting to the card - but that isn't a downside of the card rather just a downside of old PCI technology.

Other Thoughts: I needed this card to add some USB ports due to a bus that stopped functioning on the back of system and this worked perfect. I have used SIIG products for years from PATA RAID cards, to SATA cards, to FireWire and USB cards. Have never had a problem with them but I have heard that their support isn't the greatest lately - can't say for myself because I have never had to contact them.

5 out of 5 eggsDell Poweredge 2600

Pros: Inexpensive way to add some USB to your machine.

Cons: None. Kinda wish it came with a power cable. For most users a power cable isn't necessary.

Other Thoughts: This is a PCI card (as opposed to PCI-X) and has to be put into a PCI slot to function correctly. The card will fit into a PCI-X slot but you'll get parity error and blue screen. Be sure to consult your manufacturers documentation and confirm you have an open PCI slot. The PE2600 has one PCI slot and six PCI-X slots. The bottom-most "non-green" slot is the PCI. The other green slots above it are PCI-X. PCI-X is not the same as PCI eXpress. PCI-X is an older technology (~2004) and PCI eXpress is common on newer machines (~2010). Be sure to include "PCI-X" to your search if you need to fill your PCI-X slots.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well on PowerEdge 2600

Pros: What used to take 12+ hours to back up to an external USB drive now takes under an hour!

Cons: No indication that the card could not be used on PCI-X slots.

Other Thoughts: Even though it seems like a high speed USB card should go in the high speed PCI-X slots, it killed the server every time it would try to write to a USB device. Put the card in the standard PCI slot and it'll do just fine.

5 out of 5 eggsNot the cheapest, just the best

Pros: I needed to get USB 2.0 on an old Dell Dimension for a customer who recently purchased an HP multifunction. The HP was super slow and constantly popping up USB warnings. I picked the SIIG because of past experience with their product line. The card installed with no problems and I was out in less than 1/2 hour, printer working and customer happy.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I can't be bothered with trying to save a few dollars by purchasing parts that may or may not work. I've never had a problem with a SIIG product.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: I installed this card in a seven-year-old PC and it works great. In Windows XP SP2 the drivers installed automatically. The card works fine in Linux as well.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I'm glad I bought it!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks on PE 2600 w\ SBS 2003

Pros: Installed on a Dell PowerEdge 2600 running Small Business Server 2003 without additional driver. Great throughput when compared to the USB 1.0 ports the server shipped with.

Cons: My shipment did not include an auxillary power cable which would have been handy. (The documentation could elaborate on when the aux. cable is actually required -- I suspect it's not really a requirement when using four self-powered removable drives.)

Other Thoughts: SIIG products seem to either work like a charm out of the box or not at all. Sadly I've returned as many as I've kept.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks for me!

Pros: I spent a lot of time, (months), trying to get a PCI USB add-on card to work with my ASUS P4T-E motherboard which utilizes an Intel 850 chipset with RAMBUS RAM, (expensive stuff), and this card finally did the trick. It utilizes an NEC chipset which gets along well with my Intel chipset, not like that cheaper VIA or ALI stuff that everyone is selling. (Hope I don't get sued for slander.) I really like the 5 ports, makes it worthwhile, for my motherboard which doesn't natively support USB 2.0. I also really like the floppy power connector; it's kind of like wearing suspenders and a belt at the same time.

Cons: It's expensive for PCI USB cards. The inside port doesn't seem to work very well for me, so I pass the USB cables through the case and plug them into the external ports, which works fine. I won't complain too much, because of all the other cards I tried, that totally failed.

Other Thoughts: You should know the chipsets that your motherboard uses before choosing a card like this. My ALI chipset PCI USB add-on card works well with my IBM PC, so even though I may not really like those ALI or VIA chipsets, they do work in some computers. My ASUS motherboard with the Intel chipset is just very picky about what I plug into it. I really like Newegg’s “DEEP” product selection, it’s one-stop shopping for my computer; and great shipping rates.
