The SIIG JJ-P11012-S6 is an ECP/EPP parallel and 16550 serial port PCI card. IRQ sharing and 32 byte FIFO buffers make this a fast, stable card. The serial port will work as a standard port or with 5V or 12V output for scanning devices and POS displays.
Pros: Serial port works with several applications
Cons: Parallel port does not work with devices / applications that need IRQ control of a typcial printer port assignment. The card is installed through a PCI multiport adapter running on a shared IRQ that has nothing to do with the typical IRQ assignments for LPT1, 2, or 3.
Other Thoughts: Installed card on an Socket 775 motherboard running Win XP Pro SP 2. Updated with the latest BIOS and drivers. Needed this part to drive a high end chip programmer. Siig Tech Support did respond in a couple of days but the reply stated there is no ability to assign or direct IRQs.

Works as advertised
Pros: Card does exactly what it's designed to do
Other Thoughts: Other manufacturer's cards sold here should advertise what you're really getting and work as well

No Joy (revised)
Pros: See below
Cons: See below
Other Thoughts: Revision to previous review: SIIG did (finally) respond to request for support (via email) but by that time the board had already been returned to Newegg. My impression is that they intended to be helpful and were concerned. Unfortunately, I was under time pressure to resolve the problem, so a board swap was my immediate solution.

Pros: This card works well under Win98.
Cons: This card does did work well under Win2K SP4 (have not tried under WinXp). Works initially, but after first reboot, attached printer no longer works. Get a "Other devices: Microsoft RawPort" with the yellow '!' on the system\hardware screen, indicating that the driver is missing. Note: this seems to be a common Win2k and up driver problem relating to the LPT enumerator. Tried the card in different PCI slots; made sure it was in a slot with no interrupt sharing. No solution found (deinstalling the drivers and reinstalling allows it to work until you reboot, but that's no solution...) SIIG did not respond to support emails.
Other Thoughts: system configuration: Asus P5PE-VM, 3.2 g Intel P4, 1 g ram, Nvidia 6800 XT video, dual ViewSonic monitors.
