5 out of 5 eggsVery good, so far

Pros: Cheap price, but now discontinued by manufacturer. Windows XP Pro with SP3 detected and installed drivers for it without a hitch. Works great so far. Adobe Premiere captures from it, no problem.

Cons: VIA chipset: I wanted to find a 1394 card that uses the TI chipset, but the retail box didn't list the chipset it uses. As you can see from the pictures, SIIG puts a sticker over the chip also, so it's not easy to see unless you know what you're looking for. There is no 4-pin connector, but no biggie for me.

Other Thoughts: Although the TI chipset offers better hardware and software compatibility, this VIA-based card gave me no problems. I have a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L motherboard (purchased via NewEgg), and it gave me no problems. Previously, I purchased a PPA Inc 1202 (check my review) from a local retailer and Win XP says it needed drivers.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's worth it

Pros: It works great. I needed it to use my Presonus FP-10 and have had no problems at all.

Cons: A little pricier than the competitors, but if the higher price provides you with a better product then I think it's worth it.
