2 out of 5 eggsPS/2 PCI CARDS

Pros: FAST

Cons: LOSES FOCUS AS ANY NEW APPLICATION RUNS. I MEAN ANY APPLICATION. THE POINTER JUMPS ALL OVER THE SCREEN.

Other Thoughts: I WAS AT LEAST HOPING THAT THERE WOULD BE OTHER PS/2 PCI CARDS TO BUY ON NEWEGG.COM; THERE WAS NOT. PS/2 PCI CARDS ARE DISAPPEARING. I DID A FEW MORE SEARCHES AND FOUND REMOTE EXTENSIONS SUCH AS EXPENSIVE--LINKSKEY LKV-E132 CAT5 PS2 VGA KVM Extender Set--. IF I HAD MONEY TO WASTE I WOULD GET IT. PS/2 CARDS ARE EVEN DIFFICULT TO FIND ON GOOGLE, AOL, AND OTHER SEARCH ENGINES. OH WELL, NOTHING LASTS FOREVER. I WANTED PURE PS/2 BECAUSE I NOTICED THAT THE MORE USB DEVICES THAT ARE HOOKED UP TO MY COMPUTER, THE MORE PROBLEMS I GET. COMPUTER FREEZE, SLOW DOWNS. THAT HAPPENS ESPECIALLY IN I HAVE A USB HARD DRIVE ATTACHED TO MY COMPUTER.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes the trick... Kinda

Pros: -Low profile
-Easy to install
-Works with no drivers.
-Compatibility all the way back to Windows 2000

Cons: -Drivers add nothing to experience
-Cuts out every so often (around every hour or so) and connected devices disconnect. This only lasts about 5 seconds. Enough to be a problem.

Other Thoughts: If you absolutely need PS2 ports, go for it. A mobo that already includes these ports will serve you better.

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage - DO NOT BUY

Pros: none

Cons: The mouse will move, but you have very little control over it. It will randomly click without you clicking any mouse buttons and the mouse pointer jumps randomly around the screen. DO NOT BUY!!!

Other Thoughts: I have been a newegg customer for around 10 years. I LOVE NEWEGG!. This is the first review I've ever written and this is because this product is GARBAGE!!!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Fine

Pros: Adds PS2 compability to a modern PC

Cons: High price (relatively)

Other Thoughts: I got this to hook up a PS2 keyboard and PS2 mouse to a motherboard whose PS2 combo connector was giving me trouble. First thing I noticed is that this product is a PCI 2.2 card and the pins don't line up with any modern configuration on current motherboards...but a little research showed that the PCI slots (typically white) are backwards compatible with this card- which is good to know. So this card fits into a PCI slot even though it has less pins and doesn't look like it was designed to fit- it does and it works. I don't think any drivers were loaded or are necessary.

The card does not work with bootup/BIOS but once Windows is up it works fine. This was perfect for me because I have a public PC and for security I disable all USB ports in the BIOS; a mouse and keyboard can be used because of this card. Using this card enables me to prevent people from sticking in USB memory and no one can go into the BIOS to change the settings since the mouse and keybd is not recognized until Windows is up. So it helps me with security and when I want to change the BIOS I use the PS2 slot on the Motherboard (which I cant get the mouse to work with). I realized if you deactivte all USB ports you might perminently lock yourself out of BIOS unless you have a PS2 input on the motherboard (of course you can manually reset bios in most cases by pushing a button on the MB). Something to think about.

The card apparently has a independent USB controler on it. I think the PS2 connected devices are showing in Hardware maager as USB connected (the above applies since this is not controlled by the bios).

2 out of 5 eggsWorks, sorta

Pros: It does indeed make PS/2 ports available to the machine

Cons: It does not work reliably on my Core i3 machine (ASRock Pro3) running Ubuntu 11.10. it is indeed recognized, but if the keyboard or mouse events are coming quickly (like say, under normal use patterns) the symbol sequences will be messed up very frequently. If a mouse is attached, spurious button clicks will be generated while moving the mouse, and if a keyboard is attached, periodically while typing at a normal rate of speed (50-60 wpm), the adapter will loose connection and will have to be re-supervised, causing characters to be lost for a couple of seconds.

Note that the motherboard's built-in PS/2 port is rock solid...Wish the mother board had two of them. I also tried one of the PS/2 to USB external adapters, which I use with great success on another machine with a different Linux distribution, and that also did not work well

Other Thoughts: Perhaps the fundamental problem is Ubuntu itself; I'm still trying to examine that. But I can safely say so far that with the ASRock Pro3 and Ubuntu 11.10, none of the PS/2 adapters I have tried work well.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Needed for using with my old KVM iOmega switch. Tried several Ps2/USB adapters from several brands. None worked. This card was installed without problem and such a magic it works.

Cons: Not cheap

Other Thoughts: I’m not using multimedia keys on my Sony KB, they might work just didn’t test them

4 out of 5 eggsIt works but still no multimedia keys

Pros: It connects a standard PS/2 keyboard or mouse with no problems

Cons: Doesn't work at boot up but I knew that when I bought it, but once loaded use of extra keys like voulume control or media keys still don't work on keyboard, and Logitech setpoint don't recognize the mouse being plugged in...but all standard functions work both keyboard and mouse.

Other Thoughts: It works just not what I expected but serves my purpose for my KVM switch

5 out of 5 eggsWorks fine.

Pros: It works and doesn't need drivers. Plug and Play.

Cons: A tad bit expensive compared to the other legacy PS/2 solutions. And you can't enter the MB BIOS. You will need to plug in a USB keyboard for that.

Other Thoughts: My motherboards PS/2 ports failed and I didn't want to use USB ports since I also use a PS/2 KVM switch box. In my experience, USB to PS/2 adapters can be very hit or miss. This PCI card just plugged in and worked. It saved me from buying a new MB.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Solution for "Legacy" KVM

Pros: Needed to get my all USB Dell E310 connected (reliably) to my Iten KVM switch. Since SBT-PS2U USB to Dual 2-Port PS/2 Splitter Cable Converter was not working properly (erratic mouse behaviour,) I decide to give this product a try. It works like a charm and allows me to use this PC reliably with complete reliabilty.

Cons: You cannot use the keyboard connected to this device to boot into the BIOS or make BIOS changes (additional memory confirmation, etc.) You must use a USB keyboard still to do this. I understood this when I purchased the product and don't see it as a major problem.
