SIIG’s DP SuperSpeed USB 3.0 2-Port PCIe i/e is a high performance adapter card designed to instantly add two additional USB 3.0 ports (one internal and one external) to your PCIe-enabled desktop computer. Its USB 3.0 interface delivers ultra-fast USB 3.0 data transfer rates of up to 5Gb/s (10 times faster than USB 2.0), and allows you to hot-swap devices (connect and disconnect) without first turning your system off. It also offers backward compatibility for USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices and supports the simultaneous operation of USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices.
This dual profile USB 3.0 2-Port PCIe host adapter works with a wide variety of high-bandwidth USB 3.0 devices, including USB 3.0 hard disk drive enclosures, high-resolution webcams, video surveillance cameras, digital video cameras, and multi-channel audio devices. The dual-profile PCB design along with the included spare low profile bracket allows this USB 3.0 adapter to be installed in either standard height or low profile systems providing the utmost flexibility in system chassis installation.
FAST good quality PCIe-to-USB3 adapter, but priced too high
Pros: The adapter works very well running at USB3 speeds for me, so I'm not sure what the issue is/was for the other reviewer from 1/14/12, but I've had no problem at all getting it to run as fast as expected (see ATTO Disk Benchmark Write/Read scores in Other Thoughts...).
Cons: Price. It is easy to set up and install, and it works very well, but, for what it is, it should be $25-$30 or less including free shipping and not $40 with $7 shipping (total $47)....so for that, -1 Egg. If it were $25-$30 including shipping, it would easily be a 5 Egger, and I would buy more of these and use them routinely to upgrade PC's with older technology (like the HP dc7900 or 8000 Elite series).
Other Thoughts: I used a Western Digital Caviar Blue SATA 3 (6 Gbps) drive with 16mb cache (the WD5000AAKX) and the StarTech USB3S2SATA SuperSpeed USB 3.0 SATA Adapter with a USB3 cable to run the test. I ran 3 configurations - ALL three configurations (1 Internal & 2 External) had in common a HP 8000 Elite SFF PC with a LGA775 mobo and the WD Caviar Blue HDD. The two EXTERNAL configurations had in common a StarTech USB3 Adapter and USB3 cable with one EXTL configuration using a USB3 port on this SIIG 2-port PCIe host adapter and the other EXTL using a USB2 port on the HP 8000 Elite SFF front panel.

Pros: None! doesn't work. transfer rate is 38mbps which is usb2 speed.
Cons: Replaced it twice. Downloaded the latest driver and when external drive is plugged in I get a balloon that states "This device can perform faster if you connect it to a Super-Speed USB 3.0 Port" Support was not helpfull either...to much run around.
