1 out of 5 eggsPiece of Junk

Pros: None

Cons: Installed on a fresh install of Windows 10. Card recognized by OS, but not anything attached to it. Per SIIG tech, possibly defective and should get it replaced. Because of other issues, I had to replace my motherboard and CPU and do a fresh install of Windows 10. The replacement card is not even recognized by the OS. Goes to my junk box.

Other Thoughts: Newegg was great in providing the replacement, no hassles or questions asked. Now only if the card actually worked

5 out of 5 eggsEnough ports, fast and reliable

Pros: Works perfectly out of the box with Ubuntu 14.04 including UAS (USB attached SCSI). Easily sustains max mechanical drive write speeds.

Works with Win7 x64 as well though I had to download the drivers from the SIIG website otherwise no issues, didn't even have to reboot. Note that Win7 does not support UAS (Win8 does) so the card is faster with Ubuntu than Win7.

Unlike other relatively inexpensive PCIe cards, this one fits the PCIe slot perfectly without bracket tinkering.

Having four ports is nice since it might eliminate the need for a USB3 hub. Supports USB 2.0 devices such as keyboards, mice, disks, web cams etc. It seems to be able to charge mobile devices well.

Cons: I prefer that the internal power connector be BERG style rather than SATA. YMMV.

Other Thoughts: It's easy to use has enough ports and so far is very reliable. If you use it with a USB3 hub you may want to be sure that the hub supports UAS if you are going to attach USB disks to the hub and you want to use the UAS capabilities of the card. Buy it on sale if you can.

5 out of 5 eggsQuick, easy, forget about it.

Pros: Server 2008R2 auto installed drivers, no issues since. Been using it for over a year without issue, pulling around 120 MB baseline doing XCOPY / ROBOCOPY commands. Running two 2tb drives synced to each other for data backups.

Cons: Nothing bad to say but I had to fill this spot with a minimum amount of words.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend to anyone!

1 out of 5 eggsJust does not work with WIN 7-64

Pros: Easy to install, nice driver install, updated driver available on SIIG web site.

Cons: It does not work. Supplied driver or updated driver, it just does not work. One device installed (self-powered) or four (self-powered) devices...does not matter...nothing comes up in Windows 7-64. Useless.

Other Thoughts: Big hopes, crashed with a sledge-hammer.

5 out of 5 eggsUSB on Windows 8 broken

Pros: This device is using the Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 host controller and works excellent on XP and Windows 7 but USB 3 on Windows 8 is an known issue but it's not due to this card it's due to Microsoft and Intel not supporting it properly on Windows 8

Cons: None, even had a signed driver for Windows 7 x64

1 out of 5 eggsMight work with Windows 8

Pros: Nice packaging - BUT see Cons.

Cons: Did not work with windows 8

Other Thoughts: I contacted SIIG four times in an effort to get this thing to work with Windows 8 - once we thought it was installed, but on a reboot it no longer worked. Additional attempts to get it to work failed. Tech support at SIIG tried, but I'm not sure he was fully informed as to Window 8 install problems.
Based on internet chatter it looks like others are having the same problems installing this card when using Windows 8.
