2 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: Cheap, image is OK

Cons: Software is very limited in features and the resulting video files are huge in any format. The drivers are not compatible with most other software, Although I was able to get VideoVelocity3 to work OK. Other software crashes my WinXP system when used with this device. Drivers are not a problem with the AverMedia EZMaker7 I just bought from NewEgg

Other Thoughts: If you can get this unit to work with other software like VideoVelocity, this device is a good deal. Otherwise spend a little more money and get a more compatible device.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works just as intended

Pros: This device is very easy to set up and the software included is adequate with different levels of video recording quality you can choose from.
The price was also very reasonable.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've been using this ENCORE USB Audio/Video Grabber III every night for about a week now to transfer some 'ancient' family video tapes to my computer and on to DVDs and it has worked flawlessly for that purpose.
The software included installed easily and is working fine in a Windows 7, 64-bit system.
Though the recordings are not of HD quality, neither are the video tapes I'm recording from, but the software included let's you select up to Hi DVD for recording quality, which is adequate for my purpose.
I give it 5 stars because it does a great job, you just have to understand what this device is and how it works. Keep that in mind and don't try to compare it to a HD video capture card, which this isn't

3 out of 5 eggsWin7 no...Win 8 yes

Pros: Works nicely with Win 8, plug and ply in fact. My Win 8 (online upgraded to 8.1) 64 bit likes the unit.
However, no device configuration of any kind, any drivers, will work on my Win7 pro x64 hardware platform. I.E.
i7 Sandybridge 2600K
8GB DDR3 1333
GTX260 216
Win 7 Pro x64

Works on the hardware platform of
Core2Duo E8400
4GB DDR3 1333
AsRock M/B
Win 8 x64

Cons: Went "Round the Driver Loop" installing drivers on Win 7.

Try installing from disc provided first, REMEMBER DO NOT Plug the device, because Win 7 will automatically and obstinately install it's own driver.
Reverting to...Video only, no audio driver and the software Will Not Record.
However the Win 8 driver works for both Video and Audio....

Other Thoughts: VHS tape is low resolution with static and don't expect much from it...records in 720 wide by 480 high

5 out of 5 eggsTransferologist

Pros: Absolutely fantastic. Does everything it should and more. Copies all my old VHS tapes, as well as most DVD movies to my computer. I highly recommend it.

Cons: Only problem is that each file it creates can only handle 2 hours of recording. Anything longer than that, it creates a second file, but you have to manually go from one file to the next in order to watch the whole original tape.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well with other software

Pros: Works as described.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I used it with Honestech VHS to DVD 4.0 without problems. If you have no audio/video, change the channel selector on the back of your VHS. If that doesn't work, change which output you're plugging the RCA cables into on the back of the VHS. My old cheapy VHS had two sets of outputs for audio and video so I tried one and didn't get any signal. Switched over to the other set and it worked perfectly.

1 out of 5 eggsCrashes constantly

Pros: Works well when it works.

Cons: I tried this product on 2 machines. The first was running Windows 7 64 bit. The application hung, and could not be terminated. Then the machine could not shut down cleanly - shutdown hung as well. Then upon hard reset, the USB keyboard would not work unless unplugged and plugged in again. Then tried on an XP machine. It works well enough to do captures, and the captures look good, but the machine blue screens every few hours. No updated software is available at this time.

Other Thoughts: This product is completely unusable.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Good For XBox 360

Pros: - Easy to setup
- Nice Software

Cons: - Not compatible with XBox 360
- The capture size is tiny
- The video is so fuzzy you cant play games
- Completely useless if you want it for XBox 360

Other Thoughts: The customer service for this product seams to genuinely care but they can not offer any help for those with an XBox 360. I bought mine last month for around $89.99 on another site for use with my XBox 360 only so for me it was a total loss both for money & for what I bought it for. I can not speak on any other level then with XBox 360 as I don't use anything else that I can test it with. People on PS3 claim its awesome for them though.
