does it work with windows 7 ?

Yes, it works with Windows 7. I bought it for a computer at work and haven't had any compatibility issues. The card doesn't come with any drivers but Windows 7 should be able to detect it and install necessary drivers automatically.

Will this unit fit a PCI express slot?

PCI & PCI express are two different physical interfaces This is PCI. If I could suggest why don't you google images of PCI & PCI express and you can then compare the image of the card. Look at the bottom of the card (the gold plated edge) and you can then see the difference. Hope this helps mark

windows 8.1 drivers? Startech.co has what looks like the same item # on their site and states win 8.1 compatability.

i'm using it with Win 7 so I do not know about 8.1
