5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Linux

Pros: I bought this card because my old PCI 2S+1P card stopped working when I upgraded to Debian Linux 7.3.0. Most PCI serial cards use the NetMos chip, and that got broken in the new Linux kernel. This card uses the Oxford Semiconductor chip, which still works. Well worth the few extra dollars!

Cons: The card was autodetected ok, but one thing they don't tell you is that it uses a nonstandard baud rate generator, eight times the usual frequency. In Linux you need to specify "setserial /dev/ttyS1 baud_base 921600" to make the baud rate come out right. Also, if you're replacing a different card (like I was) you may need to use setserial to fix the port address or the IRQ number.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great.

Pros: Purchased a couple of these for a client running touch screen Point of Sale (heh - Newegg filtered the acronym when I tried to use it) machines. Does require driver installation from CD but there were no issues - install the card first and then locate the driver on the disc. Does everything is says it will and has a sturdy build to it.

Cons: Did have an IRQ conflict (strangely enough) with one system but just turned off the onboard serial and it fixed itself.

Other Thoughts: Comes packaged nicely.
