5 out of 5 eggsThis card is a Cadillac...

Pros: I was very impressed with this card. High quality and plenty of configuration options. Ability to choose which individual ports you would like the Ring Indicator (pin 9) powered on or off, in case you need to use pin 9 to power your device / interface. Comes with low-profile brackets and regular-size brackets.

Cons: Both dongles are labeled Port 1 - Port 4, although the "marking" is hard to read at first glance because it is molded into the dongle. Strangely enough, the markings have *nothing* to do with how the ports are detected by the operating system (Windows 7 x64, anyways). Each port can be changed to any COM port number. I found this out the hard way when I just plugged the card in and expected the ports to be detected as they were labeled, and then tried to plug things into the ports I *thought* they should be, and things weren't working. I ended up using a COM port loopback adapter (*strongly* recommended to have one on hand for installation) and a terminal emulator to figure out which physical cable port connected to which "assigned" port in the operating system, and then re-assigned the COM ports in the operating system as necessary. I ended up putting large labels around the physical ports in order to read them better (and tell 5-8 apart from 1-4, considering the molded labels).

Other Thoughts: Windows 7 x64 compatible. The instructions mention moving jumpers around on the card to determine which large port is which, but after the above experience with the COM port numbering, I can't see why anyone would need to bother, unless other operating systems handle the COM port numbering differently. After all of the configuration was said and done, the card is working beautifully. Magnificent.
