Pros: It's tine easy to install windows recognizes it easily.

Cons: I picked this up based on the pic and prise 1 esata and 1 sata prot. Truth of the matter is the only one is active you can't use both at once.

Pros: Cheap. Reliable. OK throughput. Simple installation (download the driver from manufacturer's website given under the Details tab on the Newegg product page).

Cons: As with every cheap SATA II controller I've bought (Rosewill, Startech, etc.), it doesn't seem to be very backwards compatible to legacy SATA (1.5 GB/s). Anyway, such controllers have caused my system to hang on boot when I attached legacy SATA drives to them, so now I never do and they work just fine. Took an egg off for that.

Other Thoughts: Solved a problem. Created a problem. Then I figured it out and now it is no problem

Pros: In my case, none

Cons: NO MAC DRIVERS AVAILABLE.

I've already sent a support ticket to StarTech, but since this is using a Sil3531 card, it's unlikely there will be functioning drivers for OS X any time soon.

Other Thoughts: If you're using a Mac, look for another card.

Pros: Easy installation, another SATA 2 Port, jumpers are set for the internal port by default.
I used it for one of my storage drives

Other Thoughts: For those who say you can't boot from this, you are incorrect.
It is something that has to be done from a fresh install and either pressing F6 to add drivers from floppy or USB or with Win7 add drivers from a floppy or USB.
It tells you this in the documentation.
Then it will boot from this card.

Pros: Card works as designed and so far I have had zero issues.

Pros: Bought this due to Price and despite reviews. Got it fast and opened computer and plugged in card, plugged in my fantom 2tb external with E-Sata cable, booted up computer and windows 7 loaded and installed the card automatically, saw and installed drive and everything worked flawlessly. One thing is make sure if you are using the external port you have to change the jumpers.

Pros: Sadly i don't have anything to say positive for this product.

Cons: What do you know, this product failed on the date of the 30-day return. Makes you wonder if the company who made this product purposely made it fail 30 days later.

Other Thoughts: Furthermore, i have kept the card and also was able to get a full refund on the product! Thanks newegg!.. But that doesn't fix the problem. It looks like i'll be moving to a more common brand. I should of known not to trust a third party brand. No more StarTech for me you've had your chance. *The card get's to see garbage for the rest of it's exsisting life.*

Make sure you check your products thoroughly for those 30-days to confirm it's reliability and working condition. And also to make sure that your able to handle it before that 30-day period is over. Otherwise you'll just be left dissopointed

Pros: Comes with a SATA Plug...

Cons: After installing the card, the computer will NOT shutdown properly. I have to forcefully hold the power button in to shutdown the computer. Two things happen... 1. The shutdown screen appears and stays at that screen. or 2. Weirdly the computer will half turn off, meaning it will go into the shutoff state but not actually shutoff, fans will still be running but there will be nothing on the monitor. It will stay that way till you forcefully shutdown your computer. I didn't however get a error message after restarting that "You didn't shutdown the computer properly".

Both connectors don't run side-by-side. Your only able to run one SATA connector at a time. Meaning either only the onboard SATA connector on the card or the external SATA connector in back of the card. Which really doesn't make sense since a PCI-E slot can handle alot of data.

Other Thoughts: Determined by what i have experianced with this product. I have given it 1 egg.

Cons: Very cheap build had the plastic piece that goes with the connectors come off with the esata cable, this is with light use as it only goes to my backup drive.

Other Thoughts: Hope they fix the problem with this cheap build as the card becomes useless once the connector piece breaks off.
