2 out of 5 eggsMostly Works

Pros: Not difficult to install. Win7 recognizes the second monitor (unlike previous model) and allows config through control panel.

Cons: Only lasted ~6 months. Very choppy and can cause some resolution oddities

Other Thoughts: You're much better off going with a dual-monitor supported video card.

1 out of 5 eggsUnusable

Pros: Recognized by my computer.
Displays an image to the monitor.

Cons: Refresh rate is terrible.

Other Thoughts: Using latest driver from manufacturer's website. On what planet did they think this thing was usable?

Immediate RMA.

1 out of 5 eggsNext to useless

Pros: None that I can notice after testing the product. Maybe durability.

Cons: The resolution will disappoint you. The max res is not sufficient for today's large monitors... I used with a Dell 23" U2312HM . I couldn't see myself using this produt for what I purchased it for.

Other Thoughts: I used the device with a Dell 23" U2312HM . I couldn't see myself using this produt for what I purchased it for. I program in C++ and needed this product to use my second 23" monitor to add monitor real estate but had to send it right back to newegg because the product is gabbage based on my opinion. Consider buying one with market based high res and you will be fine.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: Ease of use. That is about it.

Cons: Garbage. Utter garbage.

You are better off buying a dedicated GPU for $30. These only have 32mb of video memory and a dedicated GPU will have 512mb for $30.

Display lags, window movement lags, drivers are terrible, display flickers or fails to display at all, hot keys send unintended key presses.

Do yourself a favor and buy a dedicated GPU if you have a desktop.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as it should

Pros: Low cost, easy to install, works as it should

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Just ordered 3 more of these for our office. We currently have 3 running throughout the building. All have installed easily, and work as they should. No issues

1 out of 5 eggsTrash

Pros: I have literally found no advantages to using this hardware that couldn't be improved upon by putting in a cheap dual-output video card.

Cons: I work for a state government agency, and someone has decided to start recommending these as a dual display solution for many different agencies. They cause blue screens, they cause software for other hardware to not work, they slow down your system, and eventually they make your system crash under both Windows 7 and XP.

Other Thoughts: After my experiences with this hardware, I can't honestly believe that any of the positive reviews on this site are real people with real experiences. That's saying a lot, because otherwise I trust Newegg reviews.

1 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely Terrible with Horrid Service

Pros: None.

Cons: My company uses these on some of their older laptops to give them multi display capability and I must say after 2 months of I literally just did my company a favor and threw it in the trash. For one, the video on the monitor it is supporting is beyond choppy. The only application I can run in it without annoying me is Outlook since I won't notice it taking an extra second when a new email comes in.

However, the lag isn't that big of an issue. The issue belongs with the provided software and hotkeys which don't actually work. Well, they work but it is beyond terrible. For one, the hotkeys are hard coded in and even though there is a menu with a "disable" feature, it doesn't actually disable them. Because of this, I manage to hit one of them by mistake and all of my windows magically center, cascade, and maximize (not actually maximize but the program literally just re sizes the window) all onto one monitor. I then spend the next 5 minutes trying to put my windows back the right way.

Other Thoughts: I got in touch with Startech support about the hotkey issue. I eventually mapped them all to Shift+Esc since I don't use that key combination (and since the Disable button doesn't work) and they simply linked me to a new set of software that was supposed to fix it. Well it didn't actually fix it, it made it worse. In the new version, you can't even change the preset hotkeys (you can in the menus but it doesn't actually do anything about them). So now I have to restart my computer another 12x to revert to a "less broken" version.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: It works as advertised, and installation went smoothly. The image displays without any distortion.

Cons: Using this with a 3.2 Ghz Pentium 4 machine, the display is very choppy. Even mouse movement is laggy. I needed the extra display simply to get the pallets out of the way when using using drawing programs, so it's not an issue for me.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Fine For My Use

Pros: Extremely easy to install . Runing on WinXP Pro 1gig Ram (Dell SX280) Running one monitor @ 1600x1200 on On board Video and running this @1024x768 . We mainly use this running Management software . It works fine but there are times when it is a tad bit "laggy" . I give it 5 stars because of the ease of use/install and it does exactly what it is supposed to .

Cons: None .
