MDP2DVI is a passive adapter that requires a DP++ port (DisplayPort++), meaning that DVI and HDMI signals can also be passed through the port. Pros: * Works Good

Cons: * None

Other Thoughts: * I use on my Macbook Air, previously a Macbook Pro, with a Dell e2311h. No issues.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes NOT work for Multi-monitor support

Pros: Does work for output to DVI through a mini-display port

Cons: This is a PASSIVE converter denoted only by the lack of the word "active" in its description, which means it cannot be used for output to a third (or more monitors).

Other Thoughts: At the very least the difference should be made more obvious as neither the video card manufacturer (XFX), the adapter manufacturer, nor New Egg brought to my attention the limitations of using a passive converter.

3 out of 5 eggsHalf Functional, didn't work on Monitor...

Pros: Mac recognizes it

Cons: Monitor does not

Other Thoughts: I have been using a VGA to DVI cable for my monitor on my PC for the past 2 years and have had no problems, just purchased this adapter for my 2012 15" Macbook Pro, my mac recognizes my monitor (LG Flatron W2250T) but my TV does not receive a signal and goes into "Power Saving Mode." I believe it is a problem with the adapter because I can't think of any other place that could go wrong seeing as it works on my PC without the adapter. I will be returning it.

3 out of 5 eggsStarTech PASSIVE Mini DP to DVI

Pros: Allows for displaying on dvi monitors when you run out of dvi ports, but have display left over.

Sturdy when plugged in. It looked like it would fall out but it does not.

Cons: Does not allow for eyefinity to work properly or for AMD cards to draw on over 3 monitors when this is in use. Do not purchase for AMD cards like I did. Opt for the active version instead. I was unaware than an active adapter was needed.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks // It's not active

Pros: It does the job.

Cons: It is not active. I did not find sufficient labeling on that, so ill deduct one egg. I didnt bother to return it, oh well.

Other Thoughts: This is a PASSIVE adapter, not ACTIVE.
