Connect your HDMI® monitor or HDTV to a DisplayPort®-equipped computer. The StarTech.com DP2HDMI2 DisplayPort®-to-HDMI® Adapter lets you connect an HDMI-enabled display or projector to a DisplayPort out port from a computer (desktop or laptop), eliminating the expense of having to upgrade your display for DisplayPort compatibility. The adapter supports display resolutions of up to 1920x1200, allowing you to take full advantage of HDMI video capability. The DP2HDMI2 is a passive adapter cable that requires a DP++ port (DisplayPort++), meaning that DVI and HDMI signals can also be passed through the port. This adapter allows for audio pass-through if supported by the video source.  Please review the video source manual to confirm support.  Backed by a StarTech.com two-year warranty and free lifetime technical support.

5 out of 5 eggsFunctions well

Pros: Performed as expected. Sound passed through TV as promised.
Like having a short cable between the two connectors.
Allows flexing and reduced stress on the DisplayPort connector on the laptop. Previously had a single piece adapter. The larger single piece was more prone to being bumped when used with laptop. This stressed the Displayport connector, which eventually became intermittent.
Startech is brand our IT department at work uses.

Cons: None.

3 out of 5 eggsClose, but no cigar...

Pros: Well - it mostly does what it says. It works for a direct connection between a DisplayPort and HDMI connection monitor.

Cons: Does not work so well when you throw something else in the middle, like a KVM switch. I bought an Iogear GCS62HU 2-Port HDMI KVM to work between my home rig and work laptop, but I could not get this to work with the specified max resolution of 1920x1080. I thought this was possibly due to the KVM itself, since hooking up the adapter direction to the monitor worked. However, when I purchased a different adapter brand, the connection worked through the KVM as well.

Other Thoughts: This works fine if you are going directly the monitor, but if you you have any switch or KVM in between just be aware this adapter may not work.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Active

Pros: It's a good cable if you're looking for something other than Eyefinity.

Cons: Doesn't support Eyefinity. Doesn't advertise that it's passive.

Other Thoughts: NextDay Delivery is a joke. Don't waste your time and money on Nextday. Shipping was late and this will be the last time I choose Newegg for anything.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Easy. Worked.

Cons: Wouldn't play through my HDMI switch (built into Onkyo receiver)

Other Thoughts: Was able to hook my Lenovo W520 up to my plasma TV to HDMI via the DisplayPort (DP+). The nvidia driver recognized that I plugged it in and made the TV a mirror of the 1600x900 LCD on the laptop. With the the docking station, you might be able to have extended mode and an full 1080i or 1080p to TV, but I could not with my setup

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with Audio

Pros: Works as expected

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Could be a con, but I would view it as a pro. It has a clip that you must push down to disconnect it from the display port.

Used it with an older Nvidia card, had to get an internal s/pdif cable to get the audio to work.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Used to connect my Dell E6500 laptop to my Panasonic TV. Plugged it in, worked on first try. Audio from the laptop also routed to the TV, once I configured the laptop's "Audio Devices" correctly.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I noticed that all 4 edges displayed on the TV were "cropped " (e.g. missing some pixels). This is a common scenario sometimes called overscan. I had to use the NVIDIA control panel applet to adjust the size of the display. Now the entire screen shows up on the TV properly.
