Pros: The ability to add 2 SATA ports if it worked.

Cons: As of this review, it doesn not work with the Intel DH77DF motherboard. It isn't recognized by the BIOS or OS. After speaking with Startech support, I RMA'd both the card and mobo and NewEgg sent me new ones with the same result. Several more calls to StarTech and they advised the card has worked in other mobos so it's the Intel board. Called Intel and they opened a service ticket #8000450213 to (hopefully) resolve the issue with a future BIOS update. I will update this review when/if they get it working.

Pros: Worked precisely as advertised, fit neatly into place and has provided just the expandability I required.

Cons: none so far.

Other Thoughts: Word of warning, be sure to check clearance on your motherboard carefully. The intel board I am using has a bank of capacitors near enough that the standard flat SATA cables wouldn't be able to fit. I used left angle connectors for a perfect fit.

Pros: For a motherboard that has a Mini PCIe slot that needs extra sata ports this is a good idea. Came with everything that was needed, controller, cd and cables.

Cons: This controller does not support all motherboards because the design need some rework. Since some motherboards mount the PCIe card flat to the board and the sata ports plug into the edge of the card, in order to plug in a sata cable to this card your motherboard needs to have all electronic components and connectors free for about an inch on the side of the sata ports. If it would have been designed to use sata ports that plug into the face of the card instead of the edge it might work better.

Other Thoughts: The motherboard I was going to use this on was the Intel BOXD525MW. The motherboard's sata ports and the other connectors were almost against the sata ports of the controller. Using right angle sata cables MIGHT have worked if I plugged them in then installed the card.
