The PEXUSB3S2E2I 4-Port PCI Express USB 3.0 Controller Card adds 2 external USB 3.0 ports and 2 internal USB 3.0 motherboard headers to a PCI Express-enabled computer system, with support for SuperSpeed USB 3.0 data transfer rates up to 5Gbps as well as backward compatibility with devices that rely on previous USB standards (USB 2.0, 1.x).
The adapter card features a built-on SATA power connector, which when connected to the computer power supply supports delivery of up to 900 mA of power to USB 3.0 devices (500mA for USB 2.0 devices). Plus, this PCIe USB 3.0 card is equipped with a full-profile bracket and includes an optional low-profile/half-height bracket, making it a versatile solution that can be installed in either full-sized or small form factor computer cases.
USB 3.0 connectivity The StarTech PEXUSB3S2E2I supports SuperSpeed USB 3.0 connectivity with data transfer rates up to 5 Gbps and 80% more device power delivery than USB 2.0.
Internal and external USB 3.0 ports The card features both internal and external USB 3.0 ports - a versatile solution for adding common USB 3.0 devices (e.g. hard drive enclosures, etc.), as well as devices that require an internal system connection (front panel USB 3.0 hubs or card readers).
SATA power connector PCIe USB 3.0 controller uses a SATA power connector to draw power for compatible devices, as opposed to an LP4 power connector, making it more suitable for newer systems with power supplies that don't offer enough LP4 connectors.
