The StarTech MCHD2VGAE Adapter converts HDMI signals into VGA-format video, so you can connect a Micro HDMI source – like a tablet, smartphone, or ultrabook – to a VGA monitor. It supports output resolutions up to full 1080p, for uncompromised text and graphics quality whether in presentations, documents, or video. The compact design, with no need for external power source, allows great convenience for everyday use and transport.
So far, so good.
This review is from: StarTech MCHD2VGAE Micro HDMI to VGA Adapter Converter for Smartphones / Ultrabook / Tablet - 1920x1200
Pros: Connects my tf300 tablet to external monitors and projectors. Recognized by the tablet, no need to make any settings adjustments to get it to work.
Cons: Plug has difficulty clearing my Gumdrop case port cover...I split the plane between Gumdrop and StarTech on that one.
Other Thoughts: I teach on two different college campuses, and have recently purchased an Android tablet to use for most of my classes. Aside from productivity software, the most important consideration for me is the ability to run presentations from my tablet in classrooms, most of which still use VGA connections. This adapter has become an essential accessory for my work. So far I have not had any difficulties getting it to work on a variety of systems of various ages. The product specs list resolutions taht this adapter will work with, but so far it has not been picky about the projector's resolution.
