4 out of 5 eggsWorks fine

Pros: I purchased a USB 3.0 card for my laptop thinking this thing would require it. It does not. For general office work, this thing does great. When I switch it to the USB 2.0 interface, I do notice a bit of a drop in frame rate, but I'm running spreadsheets and 2d applications all day and does not bother me a bit. I'm currently running two 1920x1200 displays off of this thing with no problems, including one DVI out from my laptops dock as well as the display that is physically on my laptop. Total of four screens with one USB device. So far, this USB3 model has been flawless once I uninstalled the old drivers completely. I plug it in every morning and the screens just pop up!

Cons: I wish they built this thing, a KVM switch, and USB 3.0 hub built into one unit.
I've recently purchased a second unit for my boss, but I have gone through several of the StarTech USB2 model devices that have had mixed results. One arrived DOA, one died after a month, and I've had awful driver issues. The reasoning for four stars is because I am uncertain my luck will continue with repeat purchases. If this next one lasts as well as my current, I will amend and give this five stars.

Other Thoughts: Other reviewers "tech knowledge" may be higher than mine, or I'm modest, but they should probably read the specifications more closely. Each device is capable of displaying two outputs by itself, and nothing more. If your PC hardware is not capable of handling more, then it is your hardware's capabilities that are not up to snuff.

2 out of 5 eggsBarely works on my laptop

Pros: I can successfully use two external displays with my laptop.

Cons: Unfortunately, I cannot use a 4th display with my laptop. According to tech support at Startech, plugging an external monitor into the VGA output of my laptop to add a 4th display (3 external plus one laptop display) likely pushes the NVIDIA Quadro K1000M graphics too far.

Other Thoughts: Since this Startech device is advertised as being able to provide up to 6 additional displays without mentioning that there may be graphics driver limitations, I only give it 2 stars. I'm limited to 3 total displays and have to turn off the laptop's own display in order to use my 3 external displays.
