5 out of 5 eggsWonderful Active Adapter

Pros: Good price.
Resolves the issues with changing connector formats especially with onboard video cards.

Cons: Nothing.

Other Thoughts: If you need an active adapter, these are the trick. If you are trying to use an onboard video port and need to convert from DP to anything other than miniDP you need an active adapter in most cases. I have also run into add on cards with more than 2 output ports that require the third and fourth monitors to have the active adapter to run properly. These do cost more, but save yourself the time and get the active adapters the first time. Better than returning the passive adapter and waiting for the active ones to arrive. I have not found any store that stocks active adapters either. I have always had to buy online. BB has passive adapters for the same price and they will not work in most instances. So this is a no-brainer.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat..until it fails

Pros: Does exactly what it's supposed to do.

Cons: It keeps failing! I've gone through three of things. It will work fine for months, then out of the blue it will just stop working. Normally I see this by it down stepping the resolution on my TV to something very low and refusing to detect its native resolution of 1080p.

Other Thoughts: Main reason this has three stars is because StarTech has always provided me with a painless RMA. I simply fill out their form, do a cross-ship and send the old one back.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Product - Not great service

Pros: Have 3 of these already in service and am extremely happy with the conversion rate for both video and audio.

Cons: No Con's Great and excellent product.

Other Thoughts: Service - Paid for Rush processing - and next day delivery.
Purchased at 4:28 CST - Not processed until 10 AM the next morning - Shipped out 18 1/2 hours after ordering. ( not very much of a rush I get the same thing on a standard order.) coming up on 48 hours after order and still haven't received it. ( what happened to next day, am not sure) (Warehouse shipped out of, is 7 hours away from me. )

2 out of 5 eggsDoes not support 1080p @ 60hz or higher

Pros: Is an Active Adapter for DisplayPort and does properly convert HDMI to DP++

Cons: Does not support 1920x1080@120hz, let alone 1920x1080@60hz. I can run it at 30hz interlaced or 24p. I'm not trying to play console content and my device supports 120hz, so why would I restrict myself to 24fps?

Other Thoughts: From day one, catalyst control center let me know that there was a problem with my displayport device and would not be able to get optimal refresh rate. Can connect same device to HDMI port and get 120hz, so issue is the adapter itself. StarTech wasn't much help.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work.

Pros: It arrived in a decent amount of time?

Cons: Does not work with my Raedon HD 5800. Trying to have three monitors and have been horribly disappointed. Does not even work when it's the only connection plugged in. I know the DP port works as it is able to function with a non-active DP adapter but doesn't work with this one. Very disappointed and wasted my time and money.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it's supposed to

Pros: Does exactly what it's supposed to do with no problems.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I needed this adapter to add a 3rd monitor to a Radeon 5770 video card. To get the arrangement to work in the end I had to be set up as displayport, hdmi and dvi instead of using both dvi ports. The adapter doesn't carry audio, but the system alerted me of that as soon as I plugged it in. It's not the adapter's fault, the video card doesn't push audio through the displayport, only through the hdmi port. So, that being said, if you want to hook one of your ports to a tv, run that connection from the hdmi port directly on the video card (or run your audio separately).

1 out of 5 eggsWanted 3 Monitors

Pros: None - Did not work for my setup

Cons: Did not work with a HIS H675F1GD Radeon HD 6750 1GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity video card. Tried several different HDMI monitors in a variety of configurations, but could not get it to register 3 monitors (or even 2 with this converter as one of the connections).

Other Thoughts: Could not get any attempted configuration to register the monitor attached to this converter. For an almost $30 adapter, it cost me about $10 in fees to try it out. I should have just purchased a second video card. Live and learn.

3 out of 5 eggsGood for what it does

Pros: It does what it is supposed to do, works well, has a locking mechanism for the display port side.

Cons: Mines been acting up, continual reduces the eligible hertz, randomly will only go up to 30hz. Normally unplugging it and plugging it back in fixes it, but I feel it's on its way out. Too bad as it's really not that old..

Little annoyed I spent $40 on it.
