1 out of 5 eggsAlready dead... don't buy.

Pros: See below.

Cons: Bought this in on October 8, 2013 (Dec.1 2013 as I write this). Seemed to work okay sometimes with Win 7 x64, worse in WinXp x32. Sometimes things would be recognized, often times not. If they were, they were not recognized as USB 3.0 (I have a few things that are the new spec.). Now the thing is dead. Things plugged in get power but not recognized by system. So, at this point it's junk. BTW; I tried un-installing, re-installing the thing as well as running the latest drivers - nada.

Other Thoughts: As others have mentioned, if there is a ridge or rim around the opening for the slot where this card plugs in (usually the first slot on the MB) you won't be able to plug USB connectors in all the way. I found that with a small X-Acto knife you can cut the edge of the plastic back enough so that the connector plugs in all the way. Easier than modifying the computer chassis.

5 out of 5 eggsLots of ports in little space...

Pros: 4 ports
Fits 2U rack mount case (low profile) as well as full desktop tower
Includes both low-profile and full-size PCI slot brackets

Cons: Narrow PCI slots (too close together or too much metal between slots) may require trimming the case slightly

Other Thoughts: Seems to work very well, it gives 4 USB 3.0 ports in a very small form factor at a price comparable to some 2-port cards. As another review said, if your PCI slots are too close together or have metal between them it MAY require slight filing or modification to the case. I was able to make it fit by loosening the screws slightly on this and the PCI cards on either side, then carefully and gently adjusting the USB ports by less than 1/16 inch until they lined up with the PCI slot cutout in my case. Once I plugged in 4 USB cables I re-tightened the PCI slot screws to securely keep everything in the correct position.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Gives me extra 4 USB ports.

Windows 8 recognized it with no issues.

Cons: Putting the SATA power connector in is a little tricky.

If have toolless case, it won't with it. I had use a screw to lock it in.

Other Thoughts: I would attach the SATA power connector first before putting in the case. Saves a lot of hassle.

I used Windows 8 and work with no issues

1 out of 5 eggsUnreliable

Pros: When it works, it performs well.

Cons: It usually doesn't work. It's a coin toss whether or not it will actually work. A restart will sometimes re-enable it, but not often (maybe 50 percent of the time).

Other Thoughts: As other reviewers have mentioned, the SATA power connector is only attached to the board by it's pins. It makes for a fragile connection when paired with a stiff cable and is a likely cause of the intermittent issues. That or poor drivers.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I liked the availability of 4 USB 3.0 ports, and their orientation, as well as the 15-pin SATA power connector

Cons: The card does not fit properly in a standard backplane slot. The connectors are unusable unless the divider between the backplane slots is cut to fit. Two computers with this device installed failed to boot when the 15-pin power connector was plugged in, as if the machine detected a short to ground. without the 15-pin connector installed, both machine powered up and recognized the card. Returned for refund

3 out of 5 eggsRequires Case Modification

Pros: Good Reviews

Cons: Requires Case Modification

Other Thoughts: As pancho mentioned, the vertical orientation of the plugs makes a case modification mandatory. If you do not have dividers between the card slots on the back of your case, you'll be set. But if you have dividers, as most do, add extra time for your build. I won't be installing this card until I have the time to modify my case.

5 out of 5 eggsA problem solver

Pros: Need 4 more USB ports, and want them to be powered as well?

This is your answer. Drivers load perfectly and device operates without a glitch fully loaded. I am running an HP scanjet 5590, Dell CN 3100 color laser, Logitec HD cam, and an 3.0 external HD. All running fast as fast...

Cons: The SATA type power connection housing on the card is just a bit flimsy. Use care when plugging in or you will be making friends with your tube of super glue...

Other Thoughts: Quit sorting through this list, just add it to your cart.

5 out of 5 eggsThis may not work with your case

Pros: Installed right out of the box.

Cons: The orientation of the USB plug is vertical, my Sentey Arvina case has dividers between the cover plates, and the space between the dividers is too small for the USB plugs. (I will be filing the case, once I remove the MB)

5 out of 5 eggsFine product

Pros: Works Great no technical problems.

Cons: Because the ports are vertical instead of horizontal you have to keep a device connected at all times to keep ports from falling below the slots.
Also requires software to activate even on windows 8.

Other Thoughts: When your installing this save yourself some trouble by connecting a usb cable before securing its position.
