The StarTech ST121SHD50 HDMI extender is an economical and easy-to-use solution that extends an HDMI audio/video signal by up to 165 feet (50 meters) over dual Cat5e cables, or by 130 feet (40 meters) over dual Cat6 cables. You can use your existing or new Ethernet infrastructure wiring, without the need of an expensive HDMI cable. It supports high-definition resolutions of up to 1920x1080p, and the accompanying multi-channel digital audio, to maintain A/V quality after extension. Including a transmitter and a receiver, this kit supports Power over cable, and only requires a single power adapter that can be connected to either the Transmitter or Receiver. The extender kit is perfect for point-to-point digital signage applications that require high-quality HDMI video, or industrial environments where a display is installed in a convenient viewing area, while the system equipment is kept in a clean, secured environment.

For added flexibility and convenience, HDMI cables up to 32 feet (10 meters) can be connected to both the local and remote units, which lets you extend your HDMI signal to even further distances.

Note: The extender does not work through Ethernet equipment, such as switches or routers.

I didn't think that would be a big deal until I realized I was out of power outlets on one end. Very nice mounting kit. I didn't realize how generous that feature was until I did the install. Cons: I didn't enjoy the whole equalizer process that accounts for the cable length. You think you have one rotation to go through, but in my case I had to go through one and a half rotations to get to the setting that worked for 39 meters. The manual was not useful in this since it claimed there were 3 settings and had a table to help guess the right setting. There was at least 12 clicks on the dial, not counting going around again. The table was useless therefore and only trial and error helped. The whole time thinking I made a terrible mistake with this purchase, but all turns out well in the end. Other Thoughts: Read the manual before you buy. There was a useful table on cable type, distance and 1080p and 1080i. If I had known the facts I would either have not bought this or gone with Cat6 cables. Instead I went cheap on the cable not understanding that would limit me to 1080i. The specs were not clear on this fact and I had no way to know the real length of the run until the cable was in place. Did you find this review helpful? Donovan S. 9/8/2014 9:25:41 PM Ownership: 4/5 Verified Owner	Rating: 5/5Great Extenders This review is from: StarTech HDMI Over CAT5/CAT6 Extender with Power Over Cable - 165 ft (50m) ST121SHD50 Pros: They work Active Extenders Lights tell you the status of the extender Cons: A bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. You do have to adjust the EQ knob to set the picture up. Other Thoughts: If you are experiencing noise in the signal, try adjusting the EQ slider / Holding down the EDID copy button on the transmitter. Also, double check the cable and the CAT6 jack wiring. It happened to me where I kept getting noisy signal quality. I opened up the wall place for the CAT6 jack, and it was wired incorrectly (The wires were in order, but they were installed on the jack correctly...causing poor contact). I just wanted to share that with people before they RMA the units thinking it's the unit that's bad. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful. Did you?
