Rosewill NEC 4+1 Port USB2.0 PCI CARD Model RC-101

Pros: Easy to install and recognized by hardware without any problems. I bought it for an old P4 and it worked well as USB2.0

Cons: Drivers are only available for 32-bit operating systems. When I upgraded my system to XP-64 bit, the windows driver falls back to USB1.0 driver. There are no drivers for USB2.0 64-bit OS.

Other Thoughts: This card needs an IRQ assigned to the PCI slot in the motherboard, at least that is true for my Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L.

2. Download all the windows update to your computer from microsoft.

The operating system will use the onboard usb chipset to go ahead and control the USB PCI card if the USB2.0 drivers are not up to date you may experience problem as noted on this review.

Pros: I don't know - it isn't working

Cons: When I plugged it in to my Windows 8 computer it got "Unknown USB device, invalid device description".

I was sure that I checked it for Widnows 8 compatability, but evidentially not.

Pros: Great high speed port, easy install.

Cons: None

Pros: Installed easily enough to add USB 2.0 support to an older desktop. Windows XP found it right away.

Cons: I had to remove the case to install the card? No cons so far.

Other Thoughts: The "internal" port is unused in this setup.

Pros: None cause it caused critical error on several of my computers

Cons: I have several older versions of this adapter running several on my computers. They actually look much the same in appearance however when I looked more closely I noticed several differences. I tried this on three different computers running Windows XP Professional. Two of them blue screened with critical errors and one restarted on its on with a critical error. THERE IS NO RETURN FOR THIS PRODUCT TO NEWEGG. I will contact Rosewill and see what their tech has to say. DON'T BUY THIS. Be careful and read the return policy!!

Other Thoughts: This might just be a defective USB Adapter. However, I won't take another chance on Rosewill Products. This is the first Rosewill Product I've had trouble with. I have three Wireless Rosewill Adapters running on other computer and I have an older NEC 4+1 Port USB 2.0 PCI Which is working fine...

Pros: it runs my jury-rigged hdd setup. was pretty inexpensive.

Cons: none that i can immediately see, but i am not sure.

Other Thoughts: i have read two contradictory reviews as to whether the internal usb port is a 1.0 or a 2.0 that limits the other 4. for the record i need a usb 2.0 on the inside. if a rosewill rep could set me straight it could help steer my reaction in the right direction.

Pros: Looked good. Bought two; one worked.

Cons: Doesn't work. Multiple exceptions in Device Manager.

Other Thoughts: I see that Rosewill responds to every complaint here with an invitation to contact them. But I also see that multiple people have complained about Rosewill tech support. For this inexpensive device, I probably won't bother. I think that, if they had more information, I would be seeing it on their support website. (They could benefit by hiring an English-speaking marketing major to rewrite that webpage.) I will tinker for a while and then try something else.

Automatically located and installed drivers without issue on windows XP.

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: Replaced an integrated USB controller that packed up, this worked perfectly.

Pros: all the ports work even the one on the inside and the card was not a DOA

Other Thoughts: the speeds seem a little slow but i am not useing the card for any kind of demanding file tranfer app. oh ya and its usb 2.0 so i knew i wasnt getting blazing speeds but hey win.7 found it loaded the drivers and I havent had a problem

Other Thoughts: When you need more USB ports, but don't like hubs and cords hanging around this is for you.
