2 out of 5 eggsDoes not work for me

Pros: Came packed well, looks to be of high quality. Wanted to add some usb 3.0 ports for external hdd's.

Cons: Running Windows 8 with a DFI Lanparty NF4 MB and have it hooked into one of my PCi-e x16 slots. Made sure the slot was enabled etc, even tested it with my sound card.

Installed the drivers but Windows still does not recognize it.

Pros: None

Cons: Does not work on my Windows 7, 64 Bit PC. It does not recognize USB 3.0 Drives. It does recognize USB 2.0 Drives. I downloaded the latest driver and firmware. The motherboard is the DFI LP JR P45-T2R.

I think I am done with Rosewill parts!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Please check the following

1. Make sure you have the latest windows update installed (This is a must)
2. Connect to a PCIe x1 slot on your motherboard
3. Make sure 4-pin molex is plugged into the card
4. Download latest driver and firmware from the chipset manufacturer site.
a. http://www.station-drivers.com/page/renesas.htm
b. Version 2.1.39.0 = driver
c. Version 3.0.3.4 = firmware
5. Install them but extract them first prior to get to the .exe or .inf files
6. If that does not work then go ahead and test on another PC

5 out of 5 eggsLightning Fast

Pros: Easy install, came with (really nice) free antistatic wrist strap. Extremely fast. Transferred 2gb file from external drive (Seagate Backup Plus 4GB) to desktop (SATA2 7200rpm 1TB) in about 5 seconds.

Ports are snug, leaves no doubt cable is connected properly or that cable will work itself loose.

Came with low profile bracket that I didn't need, driver disk that I also didn't need, and installation guide/warranty booklet. Good, sturdy retail box.

Works perfectly under Linux Mint 14 with no driver install needed.

Cons: Price a little higher that comparable models, but I feel that it's worth it.

Other Thoughts: Looking for a good card that will work with your linux install? Stop and buy this one right here.

4 out of 5 eggsSlowed boot time

Pros: It's not that expensive.

Cons: I've added it to a Win XP 64 bit machine, with a Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P Motherboard, and a AMD Phenom II X4 965 processor.
Boot time is now about 4 minutes. Something's not right.
I called Rosewill Tech Support, and was told that "It usually just plugs in and works". Which wasn't as helpful as you'd think.

2 out of 5 eggsDoes Not working in Windows 8 pro 64 bit

Pros: Worked great while running Windows 7 64 bit.

Cons: After a clean install of Windows 8 pro 64 pro the
Rosewill 2-Port USB 3.0 PCI Express Card Model RC-505 ran good for maybe two days then started to failed showing error codes in the device manager"This device has failed to start up and has reported an error.". I tried updating the drivers to no avail. After a week card failed completely and no longer even showed up in the device manager.

Other Thoughts: Replaced with similar brand that uses the same chipsets as this Rosewill card and have had no troubles what so ever.
Please don't take me wrong, I am a big fan of Rosewill products,
However, some bad seeds do make it through.

Using USB 3.0 SATA dock (StarTech SATDOCK22U3S from Newegg), I'm getting 100MB/sec dd'ing an image to an SSD in the SATA dock.
