1 out of 5 eggsPoor Performance

Pros: USB 3.0 when it works.

Cons: I was intending on using this add-on card for my USB 3.0 flash drives, but the card continues to drop offline at random. It is aggressively annoying when attempting to transfer data to the USB flash pen and half way through the transfer the card drops offline. Also, the card does not support booting from a USB device.

There are no Windows 8.1 specific device drivers, nor an updated firmware to resolve these issues.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this addon card to anyone. I suggest spending $10 - $20 more for SYBA or SIIG. Both of which are reliable add-on cards.

1 out of 5 eggsDON'T WASTE YOUR TIME

Pros: non, two extra USB 2.0 ports

Cons: does not give USB 3.0 speed

Other Thoughts: title says it don't waste your time, I checked to make sure my computer had the correct slots and correct everything. This is rare that I buy something that ends up in the trash, 35 years with computers I guess I can't always get things to work as they should.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with Windows 10 Preview

Pros: For anyone concerned with future upgradeability, it works fine with the Windows 10 Preview just released. The driver is built into Win10 so it comes right up if you fresh install.

Cons: Have to wait for final version of Win10.

2 out of 5 eggsMarginal while it worked

Pros: When it worked-- faster than usb 2.0

Cons: bought 3 and within 12 months two had failed...
very lightly used. good power supplies and all well vented.

Other Thoughts: I have many Rosewill products and this is the first item that really is not fit to wear the Rosewill name.
It is not worth my time invested to get the RMA's and replaced with items that are similarly destined to fail.
Spend the extra 10 bucks and get a higher quality card.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a charm.

Pros: Easy install, Was worried because when I went to the Rosewell website to check for up to date drivers there wasn't any. The newest ones were from 2013 and were for Windows 7. I. I already knew Windows 7 drivers work fine in most cases with Windows 8.1 Pro. but sometimes you have to force installation. Not this time though. Card works great.

Cons: No drivers newer than Windows 7 that were made in 2013.

3 out of 5 eggsRosewill RC-505

Pros: Inexpensive and fast free shipping. Needed a USB 3.0 card for my new WD Passport Ultra 2TB. Card installed without a hitch in my dual-boot system under both XP Pro SP3 and Windows 7 Ultimate SP1. A quick test w/a Blu-ray backup and transfer rates were much faster (85MBsec vs 25MBsec).

Cons: Hoping to increase transfer rates I tried to update the driver and firmware from the Rosewill website. The drivers available there seem to be outdated compared to those on the CD that came with the card. A note in the version.txt on the CD claims Version 8.0
2014-05-26 Update drivers of RC-505, although once installed the driver date/version are 8-21-2012/v3.0.23.0, so not sure if these are the most updated versions. When trying to update the firmware (v2107) I get a "not found the host controoler" error (actual grammar/spelling).

Other Thoughts: Not sure why the card is not found when trying to update the firmware. Please provide help/suggestions if anyone has any ideas. Other than that it works as it should I guess. Only 3 eggs due to driver/firmware update problems...

4 out of 5 eggsWorks in OS X

Pros: Works in Mac OS X 10.9 in my Mac Pro Early 2008! And it works at USB 3.0 Speed!

Cons: Need to install a driver.

Other Thoughts: Works in OS X, I installed a driver from Lacie and it works great. I did not give the card power and it still works. I assume this is because I am using a device with it's own power supply.

2 out of 5 eggsworks USB 2 drops USB 3

Pros: none really since it constantly drops USB 3 devices. Completely drops off the computer in the middle of large file transfer at USB3. On the other hand USB 2 devices work fine - just what I needed - another 2 USB 2 ports.

Cons: drops out when using USB 3 deveices

Other Thoughts: Apparently there are huge problems upgrading older USB 2 main boards to USB 3 - the tales of woe are all over the internet with many different chips, not just the NEC (Renesas) chip. It will be hit or miss as to whether your older main board will play nice with any of these USB 3 devices.
