2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing, to say the least.

Pros: Well... it's free t.v. and I suppose you get what you pay for.

Cons: First of all, this lame beast is SLOW. It, probably, has a Pentium II processor, at best. The OS is erratic and unstable and to top it off, pretty much all of the "free t.v." sites are just about crippled from heavy user traffic and prolific usage of add media.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking to eliminate your t.v. bill, this will NOT be a good alternative. To enjoy it, properly, will end up paying Netflix, Hulu, Amzn Prime, etc, etc, to watch your movies and shows. The plus to this is, in the long run, that your monthly t.v. viewing WILL be reduced, but far from eliminated and you will be paying for exactly what you want to watch, not an exorbitant amount of money for a bunch of rubbish that you don't want.

1 out of 5 eggsNot good

Pros: Runs for hours without crashing, sometimes.

Cons: Prone to overheating, crashing and lack of content. Have to download add-ons to do anything, play from NAS, stream from the internet and so on. Doesn't support Flash at all so things like HBO2Go is a no go.

Have to pay for content from other providers to get any "TV" content at all, Hulu, Netflix and others.

Other Thoughts: Just get a Chromecast for playing youtube from your phone to the TV. leave this alone.

3 out of 5 eggsGood not Great

Pros: Easy to use, full Chrome Browser on your TV, nice remote. Pandora, Netflix, PLEX, 1080 support

Cons: Limited Google TV app selection, but what is available seems to be stable

Other Thoughts: The Fast Forward and Rewind buttons on the touch pad have stopped working recently, less than a year of moderate use.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Integration

Pros: One of the few devices out there with the Plex Media Player built in. Works flawlessly to stream 1080p from local Plex Media Server with 10.9TB of data. The other apps are nice if you want Netflix, Youtube, etc.

The built in guide for Cable TV is a much nicer interface than the Cable Box's. Makes finding the shows you want a lot easier than browsing through the hundreds of channels you pay for, but don't watch.

The "Search Button" on the remote combined with full keyboard and touchpad is very nice. I can be watching TV and see something that reminds me of a YouTube video, and be able to search for it, and play it, with ease, then go right back to what I was watching.

As someone else mentioned, the remote can controll my cable box and receiver from behind a closet, so I can keep the door closed. Way better than using an IR Repeater, or buying expensive Logitech Universal Remotes.

This product has definitely become the center of our home multimedia system. We used to have a few different remotes, and would have to change inputs frequently, but not anymore!

Before this we used a SMP-N200 to stream our Plex Media, but without the full-featured Plex App, it became a pain. The Plex App on this product alone is definitely worth the price tag for us, especially since it can be updated.

My Cousin has a Logitech? Google TV, and it is very slow compared to this product. His is also a couple years old now... The hardware in this product is definitely a step up from what he has though. Everything on this device loads "instantly" compared to my cousins Logitech.

Cons: The remote doesn't lock, or at least I haven't figured out how to lock it. Not really a con unless you have small kids, or big old bear claws for hands. Traditionally, remotes don't have a lock function/button, like most smart phones, but this remote was definitely designed to function like a smart phone (in my opinion), so I would like to see a lock/unlock feature.

Other Thoughts: Took us from 4 remotes down to 1, and works through a multimedia closet at 30ft. IR Blaster controlls volume on a Yamaha Receiver just fine.
Fully functional PLEX App connects us to our local server, and our friend's servers around the country through MyPLEX.
Integrates with our Cable Box and Cable Provider seamlessly with HDMI, and works much better in our opinion.

We have not encountered any of the problems other users mentioned, so either Sony has fixed these initial flaws, or their devices are overheating (never stack your A/V equipment...).

4 out of 5 eggsA+ for Netflix, Play Store and Plex

Pros: I use this as a cord-cutter. The Netflix app is super smooth; rewind and fast forward works perfectly. I love the thumbnails so you know where you are during a rewind procedure.
As a Plex media client, I love the layout of the content. I use direct play and it handles 1080p content flawlessly.

The remote works great to control my Sony TV and Sony amp using Bravia Sync (HDMI-CEC) no IR blaster needed.

Purchasing and playing content from the Google Play Store is so simple and can be accomplished directly from the couch using the remote and play store app.

The YouTube app is awesome, if you subscribe to content you can catch up on your subscriptions with ease.

Cons: There is no sleep timer button on the remote.
Chrome Browser is less than perfect.
Cable network web streams are not accessible from the browser - Blocked by the content holders not Google.

Other Thoughts: This box is great for Netflix, Google Play Store content and Plex.
Available plugins let you "Fling" streams and web pages from your desktop or smartphone.

1 out of 5 eggsFrustrating device.

Pros: + I find the remote easy and I love its balance of functionality and simplicity
+ Great interface
+ The box looks nice

Cons: - The remote cannot control the power to my cable box. Yet it does everything else.
- The remote occasionally fails to detect clicks on the trackpad
- Some apps and webistes don't work at all
- Some apps and websites work intermittently. Factory reset doesn't help with reliability
- Some Apps are merely chrome bookmark links
- Freezes and crashes even when simply watching TV
- Lack of DTS audio support. Any movie with DTS audio will not play
- Will not play a DLNA / UPNP stream from my other PC. It wants to force you to use Plex. Attempting other streaming servers and playback apps fail. Yet I can easily stream a tv episode from my pc to my droid tablet
- Lack of notable Apps. No Google Earth. No Google Talk / Chat. The Logitech Review had the ability to video chat, I would like this feature.
- Experimental and unfinished

Other Thoughts: The most frustrating device I've have had in a long time. There is so much I want to love about this, but it just doesn't work. It gets me excited at the possibilities but in actuality it fails. Poor execution. For every pro there are easily two cons. I don't think anything is complete. I bought this for my parents for an easy to use solution. They like Google Earth. Why does this not have Google Earth? I wanted a painless experience. Why can my tablet easily play a dlna stream but this can't? Why doesn't it work on a consistent and complete basis? Everything seems to half work only half the time. I haven't had it that long, but I don't see any reason to keep it any longer. It is going back to the store. Others out there might be able to live with it, but I can't.

2 out of 5 eggsNot ready for prime time

Pros: Nice remote. Runs android. Netflix works usually.

Cons: Older, TV specific version of android so not many apps are available (nothing useful anyway). Netflix will stop working randomly, requiring a reboot. HBO GO stopped working completely after 2 weeks.

Other Thoughts: We are back to watching Netflix on the PS3. I'm a big fan of Android and Google in general. I really wanted this to work. But no one wants to sit down for movie night with your family and spend 30 minutes rebooting Google TV hoping to get it working, or start watching a movie and have Netflix freeze, requiring a reboot. Hopefully I'll be able to use the cool remote for something else.

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless

Pros: Nice concept

Cons: Poor execution, poor quality, poor support.

Purchased this to provide my wife with a single remote and simplified access to Netflix. While the Netflix access works, it fails as a single remote, and it is far too unreliable.

Once or twice a day starts producing a scrambled output signal from the HDMI input. I isolated it to Google TV box through various means. The only way to fix it is to physically remove power (unplug the box). Sony technical support (via chat and email) has been absolutely worthless.

Remote cannot properly control power to the cable box (Scientific Atlanta 8240HDC). It should be able to, because it does during setup. But once I leave the setup screen, it no longer works.

Other Thoughts: Will be returning the product as defective. Based on the poor quality and incompetent technical support, I will never purchase a Sony product again.
