4 out of 5 eggsGreat, assuming you can live without the Wifi

Pros: Pros:
Free TV anywhere you have internet assuming you have a friend / relative or your own home connection
Ridiculously easy to setup
Good signal quality
Includes everything needed to setup
Mobile device viewing works well and isn't too rough on the data plan
Browser slingplayer has ability to pause and record

Cons: Must have cable box within cabling distance to Ethernet port
Only one remote viewer can use the box at a time
I only have 4 mbps down, so remote viewing is rough
Video lag makes using DVR / ondemand / guide functions a little tedious but as long as you are content on one channel can make work

Other Thoughts: A great option if you don't want to pay for cable or just want to view your own connection elsewhere.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Well

Pros: Setup was much easier than I thought it would be. Great picture quality for the way I use it which is mainly on desktops through out the house.

Cons: Interface not the greatest. Once is a long while the audio and video can get out of sync.

Other Thoughts: Although the web interface is rather clunky and the delay from the "virtual remote" is somewhat bothersome I can live with it since the picture quality is very good. I rarely use the Android app that I purchased but it does work when I want it to. I do think the app is way overpriced but that does not mean the product itself is bad.

1 out of 5 eggsWhat a terrible company

Pros: It works

Cons: Sling Media is a terrible company

Other Thoughts: I have been using this for several months. I got an email from Sling asking me to write a review to post on their web site. Here is the review I posted:

"Not as great as I expected. I bought my first slingbox (the solo) about 10 years ago. It was such a great device then, and continues to be a great device today. I bought the 350 in order to step up to a higher quality picture. What I ended up with was a marginally improved picture, with an absolutely terrible web interface player. It's always been pretty bad, but now with the 350 I can no longer use the desktop software. It was so much better than the web based plugin, plus it seems as if I have to update the plugin every time I use it, which just takes forever. The Chrome plugin is buggy, and doesn't work well within a multi-monitor setup. When you make it full screen, you can't see your mouse cursor on the other monitor. I reported this bug months ago and Sling has yet to fix the issue. What also drives me nuts is that on the iPad player, when I'm at home, it absolutely never automatically selects the right quality. I always have to manually select it even though it's on auto mode. The player also seems to auto change the aspect of the video signal both on the web and iPad. If you compare the picture to what's on the actual TV, some pictures are perfect, and others you can tell are squished or stretched. Would I recommend this device? Yeah, especially at the price. It's just not as good as I expected."

A couple days later I got an email from Sling saying: "Your review has been moderated. It cannot be published to the web site, but... Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time!"

It didn't meet their guidelines because it's not a hugely positive review. Sling Media is attempting to make their product look better on their site than it actually is. They will obviously only publish 5 star glowing reviews. So now, I'm posting terrible reviews on every web site I can.

Thanks for being a great company, Sling. Thanks for contacting me and asking what you could do to make my experience better. Thanks for taking the time to actually fix the problems that exist in your product. Oh wait... you didn't do any of those things.

1 out of 5 eggsVery dissapointing. This ones going back. I cannot recommend anyone buy this until..(see cons)

Pros: Setup was quite easy

My primary reason for buying this was to stream our ReplayTV to the iPad so we don't have to have a tv every we want to watch it, aroudn the house.

Cons: When viewing a show, it streams out on the internet to the device you're watching. that's great until you're back home. It will still chew up your internet connection both ways even when the viewing device or computer is local (on the same lan) as the sling box.

each button click can take up to 3-8 seconds before you see the response. When you're controlling a DVR its beyone fustrating.

the iPad app is an additional $14.99, and it seems to be per device.

The up down left right quick buttons on the activeX browser control don't stay around long.

Other Thoughts: I would say someone has taken over this product/company and doesn't use it for them selives other wise this would be released to the public. on a lan it horrible, until they fix these issues please don't buy it.

5 out of 5 eggsSlingBox is great. Having the SlingBox App is even better.

Pros: HD Streaming of your entire TV. You can also change the channel of your cable box with this, while you are anywhere in the world. The smartphone app is awesome and works great with the 350.

Cons: The website is kind of meh. It requires a plugin to download and install, which is no big deal, but if you are on a computer you don't typically use you won't be able to use the SlingBox without installing that plugin on the computer. However, if you have the iPhone or Android app you are good to go!

Other Thoughts: The iPhone app is awesome. I can watch TV over 3g, 4g, or LTE anywhere. You can also change channels with the iPhone and it will actually change the channel on your cable box, pretty cool stuff. You can now catch that big game that you would have missed because you were out somewhere. I honestly don't know how a SlingBox is legal, but it completely is. Everyone should own a SlingBox with the mobile app (if you own a smartphone).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat upgrade

Pros: Excellent hardware. Hooked it up and setup account in about 20 mins. Streams at 4000kb/s on my local network and streams at 1200-1500kb/s when I am away on another wifi network. I am really only limited by my ISP upload of 1.5Mbits/s. The quality on an ipad 2 with the slingplayer app is excellent. I have a guest account setup for a friend who streams from her desktop to a 32" LED TV and it looks wonderful. Saved her bacon when she moved and needed TV service. The built in IR blaster works great on a Uverse receiver.

Cons: Some lag at times but it is usually network associated and not the hardware. The slingplayer app is great but pricey for iOS hardware such as ipads and iphones...two different apps so it is actually two purcheses. Needs to come with one more set of component and audio cables to do a complete installation. I had to provide one set.

Other Thoughts: Works well on my limited 1.5Mbit upload speed. Try to have at least 3Mbit upload at your Slingbox 350 install sight for even better quality.
