4 out of 5 eggsOne egg off for having to fight it.

Pros: Once it's finally installed and working it seems to work fine. I have it in a Dell Vostro 420 and installed into a PCIe x1 port. I haven't made any tests, but it's working much faster than USB2 was. I know I'm going to enjoy the speed.

Cons: I was nearly ready to give up on this card. I finally (after many hours and failed tries) managed to get the software installed and the device recognized. I don't know if it matters, but I'd just run updates and used a different optical drive to obtain the final results. The physical installation was a bit tight and I had to rearrange and stretch the power hook up a bit, but plan on getting a "Y" to loosen things up a bit.

Other Thoughts: This device seemed pricey compaired to others, but should be worth it - IT WORKS! It had to have been the most stubborn installation I've ever suffered through in regards to the software involved, but when it finally took, it just plain was impressive as it all fell into place.

5 out of 5 eggsUSB 3 TI chipset actually works

Pros: I have been through 3 NEC USB 3 cards which did not work very well for me. It would just stop in midstream, losing my transfers. I'm not bashing NEC, which worked very well in USB 2. So I don't know whose fault: manufacture or NEC. Koutech also makes a NEC USB 3 chipset pci-e card. This TI [Texas Instrument] chipset works consistently to the end of large gigabyte transfers. It was recommended to me. I wanted to try USB3 because I have been very annoyed with eSata ports and cables not being very sturdy and easily coming loose. So far USB 3 seems to keep pace with my eSata adapters and drives. Of course, you are always limited to the drive, even though it may be sata 3 with USB3. Probably only SSD drives would come close to the speed USB 3 promises. I'm presently only getting speeds twice as fast.

Cons: No cons. Great card.

5 out of 5 eggsPerformance/Installation

Pros: Was easiest to install ever! Works exactly as I wanted/needed! Arrived right on time-Thanks Newegg!! I love the internal SATA connector which now will allow me to install front 3.0 Panel.

Cons: None at all!

Other Thoughts: To the reviewers who have had problems getting it to install/work correctly: Be very sure you read and follow the directions carefully! The executable antomatically found the correct chipset and installed the TI driver. Not a hitch at all! Also, be sure you install the Molex to Sata power adapter!!! My son installed one of these but overlooked the installation of the power adapter. It worked with one device plugged in. When plugging in a second USB device, it began to be unstable. After installing the power adapter. no problem. Obviously, the power adapter is required to meet to greater demand for additional devices. INSTALL THE EXTERNAL POWER ADAPTER!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Upgrade Path for USB3

Pros: Picked this up to add USB3 connectivity to an older system and it has worked flawlessly to date. Good data throughput (I only have a few USB3 devices, but the Patriot Supersonic I use now gets its full 100/70 MB read/write performance, which is such a great step up from my old USB2 sticks)

Cons: None to date

5 out of 5 eggsthis works under fedora 14

Pros: After modifying grub per instructions I found on the internet at a fedora forum with instructions for USB 3.0 support, this card recognizes a USB 2.0 drive - I haven't yet tried USB 3.0. A different card in the server would not recognize a USB drive.

Cons: None I see.

5 out of 5 eggsNice card for Linux

Pros: Plug & Play in Xubuntu (aka Ubuntu/Lubuntu) 12.04 (kernel 3.2)
Regularly get 80-90MB/s from a 2.5" USB3 drive.

Cons: Other thoughts field too short for "lsusb -v -s 010:001" output (linux info on the usb 3.0 card)

5 out of 5 eggsKoutech Systems PEU430 A Real GEM!

Pros: For almost three months the exact same configuration that was supposedly non-compliant and therefore responsible for the horrendous performance of the embedded USB 3.0 controller has since installing the Koutech Systems PEU430 performed flawlessly 24/7/365 for 90 days straight! Achieving a minimum of 80 MB/s for Corsair and Adata USB 3.0 USB flash drives and up to 175MB/s using mid quality, 7200 RPM 2/3TB WDC/SEA/HIT HDD's, interfaced via excellent PLUGABLE USB 3.0 tray docks, which have also performed immaculately.

I'd also recommend PLUGABLE'S USB 3.0 tray docks without reservation both in terms of performance AND Plugable's (Bernie's) tremendous technical support!

Cons: Misleading cabling requirements!

1 out of 5 eggsDrivers will not load

Pros: if it worked, it's a reasonable price for four USB 3.0 ports

Cons: Neither the drivers on the included CD, nor from the manufacturers website will get this thing to work. Windows 7 did not even recognize it, running the installation from the CD did get it installed, and windows says the drivers are current, but, Win7 can not load the drivers to make the card work.

5 out of 5 eggsit does what it is supposed to

Pros: 4 usb ports, that are (for the foreseeable future) future proof.

Inexpensive for 3.0

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I use the interior port for a bluetooth transceiver.
