1 out of 5 eggsTruly awful junk

Pros: None I can think of.

Cons: In file mode it says that 98% of the folders on my music library HD are empty. When you use it in 'Music' mode it sorts out every track 1 on your source, then every track 2. The only other sort option is by date. Even in this mode it can't see anything in the folders that it's decided are empty. In file mode I can make it see mp3 files on an SD card but you have to manually advance from one track to the next after it finishes playing. In Photo mode after a few dozen previews show on the screen the synch breaks up the video, a very loud 'crack' is heard the the speakers and the unit reboots. Does this every time. Tried to reload the firmware from an SD but only got a read error just after it started. Then I tried to reload firmware from an HD. This time it wouldn't even start to load the file.

I bought this for audio and haven't bothered to feed it a video file. Bet if I did it would screw that up too.

IF you can get an MP3 file to play, the sound is pretty good.

Other Thoughts: This is possibly the most defective electronic device I have bought in my life. I'm only giving it 1 egg because there's no option for 0 eggs.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat video for traveling

Pros: This unit is small and works great on everything I have plugged into. I have 3 other units from other makers and this one works where many will not.
I have been most impressed with this one compared to the others I have paid more for.
It is small and goes with you anywhere.

Cons: Some video will not fast forward but they dont on others as well so it really may come down to the format being played.

Other Thoughts: Not sure why so may have problems. There is a upgrade that takes no time. It also fixes many issues.
Another problem some have is from bad videos. I have yet to have any problems as long as the video is recorded right.

2 out of 5 eggsIt is ok

Pros: Inexpensive, good to use when you want something quick and cheap. Plays avi files and mp3.

Cons: You get what you pay for. It stops on some of the movies. It skips over others. I have found that the voices dont match up with the actions. I have to reboot more often than I would like to.

Other Thoughts: For a quick set up, a cheap product to get you by. This is an ok player. It does the job I wanted it to.

1 out of 5 eggsOthers are MUCH BETTER

Pros: It's small and blue.

Cons: Over half of the divx movies I have will play on this. It would hang on startup. Got their upgrade, boy what an upgrade, now it doesn't hang on the movie, it just skips them. So instead of fixing it so it WOULD play the movie they just made it skip them. These DivX movie will play on every other player I've tried them on. Couldn't even get it to play DVD movies on disc.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Media Player

Pros: Small, inexpensive, plays most all formats including XVID.

Cons: Can't get anything above an 8gb USB thumb drive to work with it.

Other Thoughts: I have tried to use a 16gb thumb drive and the unit locks up. If an external hard drive is connected it will lock up. As long as I use an 8gb or less usb thumb drive it works like a champ with full control over the video playback. Even realizing the limits I have ordered another one for the TV in the sun room to replace the media center TV that was there.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product!

Pros: Works perfectly! After working in IT for 11 years, I can say with 100% certainty that, after owning this for 2 years, this is the best media purchase I have ever made. It's great for the kids, as they can just scroll through the "Kids" movie folder and pick what they want to watch.

Cons: The remote works off of a 2025 3v "coin" battery, so it's not as easy to replace as a couple of AAA batteries. Other than that, I have no complaints! Works better than advertised for much less $$ than similar products!!

Other Thoughts: I wish I could use my universal remote for it, so I can bypass using the tiny remote...

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Like A Champ

Pros: Small Light Weight Design. Easy to use, even for someone that is not tech saavy. Its built pretty tough, for as small as it is, it's feels pretty solid.

Cons: Small remote, I think that they need to add a few more features, fast fwd would be nice

Other Thoughts: Like I said, this would be great for someone who just wants to play their media files on their TV without having alot of tech knowledge. I Use my PS3 to stream movies from my computer to my flat screen in the living room. I bought this media player so I could watch my media in the bedroom. I ordered a 2nd one for my Dad to use on his new tv

Its perfect for him cause its easy to use and he won't have call me everytime he wants to use it. Its that simple.

You get what you pay for. This is a low budget HD Media Player. If all you want is something simple to use, this is what you want. If you want the latest and greatest so you can stream, connect to wifi, and have apps, you're gonna pay for it

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome unit

Pros: Works with Divx, mp3, and jpg.
Ultra Small.
HDMI and Composite.
Works with jump drives as well as external hard drives and SD cards.
Uses less electricity and extremely faster boot speed than a computer.

Cons: No network connection.
Only works with remote that it came with which is small and easy to lose plus it runs on those watch batteries instead of AA or AAA batteries.
Losing its appeal due to many of its features coming to blu-ray players and even televisions.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this when the most common set top boxes for videos and music were pcs and video games systems.
Purchased it when it was quite a bit more money and am regretting the decision.
As mentioned, at the current time everything from brand named televisions, video game systems, and blu-ray players have most of these features plus they operate at their usual functions. When you factor in the money this costs and the place to put it, its just not worth purchasing anymore. The only reason I strongly suggest this product is if you have a ton of older television sets that aren't HD compatible or you just don't want to keep moving that gaming console/apple tv, this is a great cheap set top box to watch your favorites.

The reason I gave it such a high rating is that most set top boxes are not divx ready out of the box, and as someone who was into video on pc back when dvds just started playing on pcs, divx was the best way to store video at low bitrates, so most of my vids are divx.
