Cons: I have had nothing but problems since this unit arrived. The manual is out of date and when I finally found the correction which applied to my unit I noticed it was dated 2006, almost 3 years and they still haven't updated the manual they ship to you. My unit continually drops the connection, and crashes all of my capture software.. Tech support so far is non-existent. I've written several times.t's been 3 days and there has been no response from them at all. I found a post on the internet where someone encountered the same problems and they finally returned the Pyro and bought a Canopus. The Canopus worked perfectly with the same set-up right out of the box.
Other Thoughts: You can get a bad unit, no matter what you buy, but there is no excuse for the lack of support from the manufacturer.

Pros: It works if you have a COMPATIBLE Capture CARD installed..all the Connections are sending Vid/Audio to the PC..the Stand-alone even acknowledges weither your useing a Analog or a Digital Device to RECORD-from..the FILES are Perfect for EDITING..//I created DVD Files from the 2008 campaign that were recorded on a VCR(VHS)..my Capture Card recognizes this DEVICE-as a CamCorder..I'm glad I bought it.
Cons: Its very lightweight..I think the REAR-FRONT Panel is configured poorly..my cables are a mess..it should have SIDE-connectors.
Other Thoughts: I like it..if your having quality problems from your Television COPY-I seem to have found that there is a security device running these days..that makes the VIDEO-skip when CAPTURED to a HDD..even on the VCR-tape..and SAVING to your PC(Vid-skips)..but does NOT show on the VCR-tape(original)..its a STAND-alone device that says it will Operate your TV as a MONITOR(from PC-files)..haven't tried that yet..nothing beats my DVDs..why go backwards.

Pros: Does what it says it does.
Cons: Took me a while to get it to do anything. VirtualDub doesn't get along with it too well, at least so far. I installed a copy of Pinnacle Studio 10 I got with their video capture card, and it can use this thing. Though I often have to turn it off and on again before it decides it wants to work. It makes nice looking videos.
I was unable to use the 6 pin firewire socket as an output to another 6 pin firewire port on a pc running windows xp sp2... xp recognized the device but couldn't "start" it (error 10). Output from the little firewire port to a 6 pin firewire port on the pc does work, though.
Other Thoughts: I'm guessing it might be more stable with the Adobe software it's normally bundled with.
I think the component inputs are strictly for analog component signals, but they do work.
