4 out of 5 eggssolid atsc ota for linux

Pros: As per the reviews here this indeed works well in Linux. I got it for a great price. HD over the air kicks a** on internet video(and I have a fast connection)

Cons: Remote is useless for linux. None of the reviews mentioned that was not including the remote. No one has figured out what this remote is or how to support it in a Linux system at this time

Other Thoughts: As can be the case in Linux, installation isn't exactly a picnic. Having to spend as much again for a remote($30.00), tempered the value of this deal, but it all turned out good!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great in Opensuse 11

Pros: Works great on OPENSUSE 10.3, OPENSUSE 11. 64 bit and 32 bit versions. Using for OTA HD and get about 22 channels. Excellent picture quality.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: wish I had bought several more at the sub $40 price.

2 out of 5 eggsThumbs down

Pros: None that I can see

Cons: Does not work with any aftermarket XP tuner software I could find, does not have an onboard encoder, software is horrible and was unable to keep audio/video sync. Zero customer support.

Other Thoughts: RMA'ed two of these. You get what you pay for.

5 out of 5 eggsNIce Card

Pros: Easy card to install and use. I needed something to take dental pictures from an intraoral camera, upload them to a server and also easy make a CD for the patient. The software was exactly what I needed. Everything is streamlined and easy to use.

Cons: Didn't had a manual to show you what all the buttons on the remote do.

3 out of 5 eggsIt does the job

Pros: Three stars because when it's connected to cable it does the job and image quality is pretty decent. It works well with Ubuntu\Myth. I really like that.

Inexpensive!

Cons: Maybe it's my PCU but so far I haven't gotten it to pick up any OTHD channels yet. Regardless of any OTHD I know I need more than my fossil 3200 S754 Venice to run it. I get constant stuttering but not with my PVR250 (hardware decoding) which has been a great card.

Other Thoughts: I'll keep it. It's too inexpensive and too much trouble to return for shipping and a restocking hit, besides, I'll give it another chance before long because Newegg will be tapping my plastic again in a few days once I settle on my new HTPC upgrades.

Some reviews say it gets warm - yep, it does. However, I wouldn't be too worried about it. The heat isn't enough on mine to be a problem. I've had passively cooled AGP cards that ran WAY hotter.

It's not a bad card for what you get. It doesn't do hardware decoding but if you have enough muscle under the hood it should be fine. From what I read I had a feeling I was pushing my luck with my stock Venice 3200 and it looks like I was but a mid dual core should be fine. They're cheap as long as you aren't locked to a dead end rig like mine.

2 out of 5 eggsA Low-Quality Choice

Pros: can't think of any

Cons: low quality manufacture, connectors on back of card not sufficient to hold A/V cables, very poor user manual, no telephone number or internet link for tech support.

Other Thoughts: DON'T BUY THIS TV CARD!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: This card worked on my vista ultimate box no problem.

Cons: the remote doesn't control Windows media center

Other Thoughts: The third party media center application works great. I dont know if they used the windows media center sdk or not but it sure feels that way.

4 out of 5 eggsEhh.. Its alright

Pros: The thing is quick and easy to install.. The user menu is really nice and looks a lot like Windows Media Center. The Picture Quality is pretty good *for standard cable*. It has Easy Rewind and Record Options.

Cons: It takes a long time to load the actuall TV.. It hangs for about 10-15 seconds before it actually comes up. The remote isn't awesome.. The remote sensor has to be pointed very clearly twords your remote. My old school ATI 9800Pro AIW loaded the TV instantly.. I haven't been able to get HD working on it.. Possibly because I have a dirt antenna or the area isn't good for HD (check online with your address and it will show you if you should have reception).. It is a little tricky to set up during installation...

Other Thoughts: For a good cheap price of thirty five dollars for an HD tuner, I can't really complain much.. I will eventually get a better one, but in the mean time this will suffice.. If your not cash strapped.. Go for a FusionHDTV7 Dual Express, which will give you Picture in Picture HD TV.. It has dual tuners.. Very good product from what I've researched.. I just wish newegg sold this product... *wink wink*

4 out of 5 eggsWorks good for me!

Pros: Cheap, comes with free DVR software.

Cons: Analog picture has some extra garbage at the top of the screen. Not terribly annoying, but it is there. Takes a little long to tune to channels. QAM tuner is locked so you can't get the HD signals from comcast cable.

Other Thoughts: Cheap and reliable so far. I really bought it so that I could record stuff on comcast cable and the QAM tuner does not decode the signal - even though my sony TV does. I also tried to get this to work with MythTV in Linux and could not do it. The bundled DVR software is pretty good though. The remote is basically useless because the DVR software was not really made to work with the bundled remote.
