4 out of 5 eggslol, pretty tech savvy???

Pros: everything... I don't have vista and this works fine.

Cons: The tech savvy computer guy??? lol, if you are that good, then why do you have a vista machine in the first place??

1 out of 5 eggsNot Satisfied

Pros: It fit in the motherboard, and windows found the device.

Cons: Could not get to work with Win XP service pack 3.

Windows recognized that the device was there. Device Manager found the hardware, but couldn't find a driver. When I attempted to install the drivers for the device from the CD, it told me the device could not be found, and it didn't allow me to install the drivers. It did not pass the pre-install check list because it couldn't find service pack 2, because I am running service pack 3.

I went to the company website to find some drivers for the device and I got the same one that was on the CD. I made an account at the website to try to get some customer service and they never responded. It almost seems like it's a fake website.

1 out of 5 eggsTotal waste of money

Pros: Plug it into PCI slot and it gets recognized. Auto run works with the disk. Was able to write a review to help others to not buy this card.

Cons: Everything else. Drivers are not supported by windows. Web site for KWorld off line. Regardless of how the card is connected to the cable connection it might find 1 channel during the scan. I dont even subscribe to get the channel that it found. During intial TV set up it gets a signal and I can change the channel on my cable box, thats works, but when you get to the next step that channel that was clear is now just fuzz and noise. A proper product should be as easy as pluging it into an available PCI slot, installing software and connecting it to a cable source. If a product does not do that than it is not a TV card. The best way to clarify what other reviews, even the positive ones have been saying can be summed up like this....If you bought a TV and plugged it in and it did not work, find channels during the scan or gave you less than a clear picture would you keep it? NO... DO NOT BUY!!!

1 out of 5 eggsDo not buy

Pros: easy to install
windows 7 picked up drivers right away
worked with media center*(see cons)*

Cons: Opened up the packaging, looked through everything, and when i open the driver cd, it was full of finger prints and scratches like a cd thats been used plenty of times before.. not impressed with quality so far.

*while the tv tuner worked in media center, the quality was so terrible, you couldn't red the spinning fox news in the corner. Otherwise it was also snowy, and would randomly make all channels back and white. The included software was no better.

Other Thoughts: Tried all the normal tv tuner fixes, but when you upgrade from an avermedia tv tuner from 1998, and the quality is worse, you know this is a bad tv card. I had needed a new tv tuner since i had upgraded from windows XP

Tried calling kworld support a few times but never got a response. i'll never buy from them again and in my opinion, neither should you.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Works great. I've run it with Media Center under XP & Windows 7 64 bit and works very well. Signal reception is good. Remote works fine, even on a 25' extension cable. The picture is great, I love hi-def.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I don't use the included software, I stuck with Media Center. I'm running this on a Pentium D 820 with 2 GB of RAM. I use it only for over the air digital channels.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Signal!

Pros: None.

Cons: I bought 2 of these cards to use in a Windows XP Media Center and then discovered that 2 of them won't work. Then after fighting with them for a month I've discovered that one of them doesn't work at all and the other drops the signal intermittently. I'm trying to get an RMA for them now. Hopefully I can replace them with another branded tuner, like the one that I have, because it works perfectly all the time.

Other Thoughts: I should have stuck with the other brand. I've had 3 of them in the past and they've worked great. That'll teach me to buy the cheap tuner cards. I'll never do that again. Spend the extra money and buy a different tuner, it will save a lot of headaches.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Good on Low Powered PC

Pros: Cheap. Frontend (bundled TotalMedia) doesn't need to be loaded for scheduled recording to take place.

Cons: REALLY requires a P4-class CPU for software playback. The recorder generates a non-standard MPG, and the bundled software codec is required for later playback. Channel-Scan (TotalMedia) takes over an hour. Keeps complaining video card not powerful enough. I had intended to use this product to record-only and not used for playback.

Other Thoughts: I shouldn't give this product a 1-star just because it didn't work for me. This is just so ppl can find this review.

5 out of 5 eggsBuggy Software Included; Works Great With Windows Media Center in Windows 7 Release Candidate

Pros: Summary: Buy this HDTV tuner & Windows 7 Home Premium for a great setup.

Picture quality is as good as my 42" 1080P Olevia HDTV as far as I can tell (connected to the same outdoor DB4 HDTV antenna)

Basically functions as a TiVo for your PC when paired with Windows 7 Media Center! (The included Totalmedia 3 software is not even close to a TiVo.)

**If you own this or any other TV tuner, I would highly recommend upgrading to Windows 7 Home Premium (cheapest Windows 7 Version that includes Media Center) when it is released. The Media Center alone is well worth the cost to upgrade.**

Win 7 MC has an integrated guide that lets you search for shows by name & schedule to record a single episode or the whole series. It checks across all the channels for your shows. Google it and you will see how amazing Windows 7 Media Center is.

More Totalmedia 3 Cons:

The included feature that lets you edit things (commercials) out of recordings does not reduce the recording's file size

Cons: The included software (Arcsoft TotalMedia 3) is usable, but it is buggy enough to be quite annoying.

Some Problems with Totalmedia 3 Include:
- randomly not recording a scheduled show for no reason (rare)
- randomly not loading at startup
- failure to stop recording a show (huge file size and a nearly full hard drive) (occasional)
- black screen for all channels or stuck on one channel no matter which channel you tune to (especially after resuming from standby)
The above issues can cause scheduled recordings to be on the wrong channel or to fail completely.

Other issues/annoyances with Totalmedia 3:
-recordings segmented into ~3.7GB pieces (~35 minutes of HD), so you miss 1-2 seconds of a show, harder to organize recorded shows because of multiple files per episode.
-must name each scheduled recording manually (not so in Win7 Media Center)
-recording time listed in minutes, not hours & minutes.
-Win7 MC only uses the HDTV tuner, not the analog tuner (doesn't bother me)

Other Thoughts: Totalmedia 3 Cons Ctd:
-sorting options for recorded TV are lacking (if you sort by date it starts with oldest first & you must scroll a lot to get to the newest files)
-pausing & resuming Live TV does not work consistently (great in Win7 MC)

I have owned this TV Tuner for 1 year and 11+ months.

Arcsoft TotalMedia 3 was used with Windows XP Home for over 1.5 years. Recently I tried using the Media Center program built into the Windows 7 Release Candidate. Media Center is way better than Totalmedia 3.
