3 out of 5 eggsKWorld TV PC Converter SA235

Pros: This unit allows me to connect my older CRT type TV to my computer using the VGA output from my graphic card (until I can replace the TV with an HD model). It is relatively cheap, easy to setup, and works reasonable well for both streaming, and playing DVDs.

Cons: Output is dark, and slightly blurry when comparing the same DVD (and TV) from a dedicated player to one played through the computer over this converter

Other Thoughts: This is a good temporary solution for connecting a computer to an older TV. However if one wants a better quality picture or a more permanent solution without going to the expense of replacing their TV, replacing the video/graphic card with one that supports S-Video or TV out would be a better option than going with a higher end converter.

1 out of 5 eggsKWorld

Pros: Products are at best so-so. nothing really special.

Cons: Company does not appear to have high integrity about mail In Rebates.

Other Thoughts: I have had poor experience with K-World mail in rebates. They rejected my MIR claim without giving a reason, just said that my submission was not complete. I asked them to let me know what was missing, because i had kept copies of everything just for such a purpose. they then said that their decision was made, and i had no recourse.

Just be extremely careful of this company, I have heard similar things from other buyers.

5 out of 5 eggsConverts To TV

Pros: Convert to TV Composit or S-video works just fine

Cons: Cables too short

Other Thoughts: Needed to have longer cables what is it today that everything has such short cables it would only cost a couple cents to make a longer cable

5 out of 5 eggsLike It

Pros: Worked right out of the box. Did not need to set the switches at all. My video card was tied to my older TV because of the S-Video connection but now I am using the DVI connector with an adapter. USB powered is a plus and plenty of connectors for overall convenience and ease of use. I could buy a newer TV but I just wanted to keep my older one as it has a good picture still so now I can upgrade my video card and not need to upgrade my TV until later.

Cons: None that I could see. Cannot con about picture res as I have an older TV. We will see about the rebate later.

Other Thoughts: As far as I can see this is the best way to hook your TV to your computer with out spending a lot of money.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as it should

Pros: Price. Newegg automatically added the correct audio cable (N82E16882678023, not normally included).

Installation is quick, the image quality is good, and it allow me to watch media (YouTube, Netflix, etc) on my pre-HDMI TV.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: NTSC is both analog and limited to 525 lines of resolution. Since computer displays are both digital and have a much higher resolution, the result is that the image on the TV seems fuzzy, but ultimately it is a result of NTSC, not this box. For the best image quality, I recommend using a resolution of 640x480 on your computer if you want to read text (like web surfing) and 800x600 if you want to watch a movie.

There are two dip switches on the back of the unit which come correctly flipped for NTSC. Unfortunately, the switch settings didn't make it into the manual, but they are on the side of the box.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Does what it says. VGA to RCA conversion. So you can hook your laptop/desktop up to a TV and run programs. Way easy setup.

Cons: Gets a little hot, but that's normal. Resolution on TV isn't readable, that's also normal. Don't use the TV as your main screen. (So no Cons.) You can see what I think is the refresh bar go up it if you're paying attention, but that's not a big deal for me.

Other Thoughts: I use this device to run my laptop on the TV as a 2nd screen to watch my movies and TV shows that I've digitally backed up on my hard drives. Works like a champ.

4 out of 5 eggsKWorld PlusTV

Pros: I bought this device only for the purpose of exporting video files (movies) from my usb hard drives through my computer to a 27" SDTV. It works great. The only issue I noticed was a ripple in the video every 5 min. or so. Like dropping a pebble in a pond of water. Not sure what causes this, but it is there. As for colors, at first it seemed a bit off, but after adjusting the TV I got what I consider perfect colors (as if it were playing from a DVD player). For $30 & free shipping, I can't complain. If it doesn't fail in the near future, it will be a good buy. But, don't even think of using it to display your computer screen on an SDTV. You can't read any of the text and, as others have said, everything is fuzzy. I route it through a laptop and use that screen to read the text until I get a video started.

Cons: Just the slight ripple in the video that I noted in Pros. It's so slight that it sdoesn't bother me. Not for $30.

Other Thoughts: I may buy a second unit. My 37" HDTV does not have a PC (monitor) input on it so I can't get my computer video to it (the HDTV).

4 out of 5 eggsWorks fine for my purpose

Pros: Easily output from a Computer VGA connection. RCA RGB and SVGA outputs. Can make adjustments to the video size and coloration on the adapter or use the computer settings. Will display Pal or NTSC though have only used the NTSC version.

Cons: Some colors are a bit. . . . off. Yellows and reds are too bright, text quality isn't the greatest. But this also depends on the screen size you are using.

Other Thoughts: Got this and set it up for a client of mine. They are using this in a TV Headend, basically we are our own cable tv service provider. They take multiple channels from satelite receivers, pull the rca audio and video and put that into a modulator combine the signals, amplify and distribute. The bad thing is that they did not have the ability to have a TV Guide like most large cable systems. I have used TitanTV to setup a guide, firefox and a autoscroll addon to display the page and fully show the guide. The video is then output through the PCtoTV converter and put into our system. They have TV's in use from 19 inches to 60 inches and the guide is viewable on every size of screen. Some are a bit better than others but it does get the job done well.
