4 out of 5 eggsWorks great for over the air HD (ATSC)

Pros: PCI (works in older pcs and does not require a pcie slot)
Good value
FM Radio receiver works great in WMC
Works great with WMC in Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit.

Cons: I believe when I attempted to install it the tuner names were confusing, and the first tuner did not seem to be receiving the ATSC signal, but I tried the other and it installed perfectly.

Other Thoughts: I was hesitant to try this card since all my other cards were from a competitor, but I wanted a PCI card, and the price was right. I've been very pleased with this card, running under Win 7 with WMC...
I'm not using the remote that came with it...since I have an alternative remote we are using.
I'll give it a 5th star once I find out if it will work under SnapStream Beyond.

1 out of 5 eggsnot good for NTSC analog cable

Pros: Cheaper then others, full size remote.

Cons: only picked up 1 channel out of what should have been channels 1 to 27 on analog cable. Same results on WinXP, and a different computer on win7 tried both included software and WMC, all the same results. Dont waist $10 to find out this is not a good card for NTSC, or at least the one i got was not. RMA'ed it the next day. Save yourself an evening of disappointment, get a better brand,(starts with an H).

Other Thoughts: i should have spend $30 more for a better one to start with. So now instead of what would have been $30 more originally i get to pay $60 more in comparison after rma fees, shipping fees. not to mention time.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Win7 64, Bad for Linux

Pros: Win7 64bit fully functional. Works great in Windows Media Center for watching and recording TV, as well as the included software (which I don't use). Has RCA audio inputs. Can record any composite input using Virtualdub. Media Center Buddy (free, open source software) can automatically transcode 3GB/hour TV recordings into 800MB h264 video files and delete the originals.

Cons: I couldn't get any over the air signals at all using the included antenna. I didn't try using anything else, so not sure if a bugger antenna would help.

Other Thoughts: Has RCA audio inputs, but requires a video signal to record audio with the included software. To record some old audio cassette tapes I just plugged in an old vcr to the video to satisfy the video signal, recorded the "video" and used VLC to extract the stereo audio. Worked great!

This is a very good tool for moving old home recordings into the digital age.

4 out of 5 eggsWin 8 compatible but not with Win 8 MC

Pros: I purchased this card because it comes with a low profile bracket to fit my low profile HTPC case, and it is a PCI slot card. My motherboard does not have a PCI-E x1 slot. If it did, for a few bucks more, I would have purchased the Hauppauge 1196 WinTV-HVR-1250 PCI-E x1 TV Tuner.

I have Comcast basic TV service. They have totally migrated to digital signals. The digital signals are being encrypted, and everyone will need a DTA(Digital Transport Adapter)that decrypts the signals; but a DTA will only tune in SD signals, and if you want to watch any HD clear QAM channels, you would need a splitter and an A/B switch. If you want to watch all the HD channels in your TV package, you need to lease from Comcast a full HD set top box, connected to a HDTV with HDMI or component cables.

So instead of going with a 2 way splitter, the DTA, and an A/B switch that requires 8 separate coaxial cables, I went with a 2 way splitter, the DTA, and a PC TV tuner card to pick up the unencrypted HD channels.

Windows 8 did recognize the card but does not have built in drivers for it. The installation CD has the latest versions of drivers, remote control software, and Total Media. If the CD does not auto start when you insert it then run the Autorun.exe file.
The included remote control works, but it's range is limited. There is no manual for it. Batteries(2-AAA)are also not included. There is a pdf file manual for Total Media on the CD.

The Total Media software, while not the greatest, is very functional. I selected Cable and the 713x BDA ATSC Tuners option and let it scan. It found 546 channels, out of those 43 were unencrypted channels, all the networks, most were in HD.
If the Analog or ATSC tuner scans fail to find any channels try uninstalling Total Media and re-installing it.
Under TV Settings, Hardware Acceleration should be set to On for most systems that meet the system requirements, but in the case of a low performance video card, turning Hardware Acceleration Off can improve performance.
The aspect ratio of the monitor or television may vary (4:3 or 16:9). Set it to match your hardware, or select "Auto" to let the program choose the aspect ratio automatically.
When using a television as a display, set "Deinterlace" to Off. When using a computer monitor, set it to On.
Note that the EPG(Electronic Program Guide) option is only available if you are using an EPG service. The EPG on some digital services may not be supported. It did not function with my Comcast TV service.

Cons: Windows 8 Media Center detected a Digital Cable clear QAM tuner and did a channels scan but could not find any channels???? It also found that the 713x BDA Analog and ATSC Tuners were present but could not detect a TV signal???? I also tried manual analog and digital tuner scans. No go, it did not find any channels.

Other Thoughts: So I'm stuck with using Total Media, but at least it works and the HD picture looks great on my 50" plasma TV.

3 out of 5 eggsIts complicated...

Pros: Price was right

Everything Worked with bundled software on Win XP sp3, Win 7 32&64 bit.

FM Radio, and Digital over-the-air worked in WMC for both Win7 32&64bit.

Capture FM Radio with bundled software.

Cons: Bundled software didn't allow any capture over RCA inputs or via Analog Antenna. Kept saying "copyright material, capture not allowed" regardless of what was being captured.

WMC unable to find any analog input over RCA or co-ax. WMC also required manual configuration of inputs to get any signal.

Forget about Linux, couldn't get anything to work...

Other Thoughts: I've had a difficult time liking this card. Started with Linux and messed with it for a few days without any positive results. Windows 7 worked with the bundled software and with WMC although with different results. I really wanted to use MythTv so I should have gone with a fully supported card but figured I could get at least some function out of it. I've ended up with Win7 running the bundled software for everything which is a bit frustrating since WMC comes with win7. No point in using it since I can't get video over the RCA input. My lessons learned, do lots and lots of research when looking for a capture card. Don't suffer from the impulse buy like I did. Despite being bitter it does perform ok so I can't knock it that badly...

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work.

Pros: None

Cons: Windows 7 couldn't find drivers for this card. The included drivers and the drivers on the companies website didn't work. The pc would recognize the card, but media center claimed that there were still files missing. The included software didn't work either.

Other Thoughts: Once again I'm paying almost half the price of the item I ordered for the privilege of returning a piece of non-functional garbage. Newegg's return policies are a ripoff! There are plenty of other online retailers that include the return label for free with every order, and I'll be shopping with them from now on.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well!

Pros: It works well. Picture quality is perfect. Audio is perfect. The bundled software works great for TV and Radio.

Cons: The bundled software does not use S-Video input very well. I use WinAVI to view the S-Video input. (I play Xbox 360 on my computer screen.)

Other Thoughts: The Cons are with the bundled software, not the hardware. It isn't enough to deduct a point.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Came with a lot of accessories. Would have been nice had it worked.

Cons: DOA. My computer would not even boot with this card in place.

Other Thoughts: This card has enough bad reviews that I did not opt for a replacement. I'm going to see if Newegg has any other TV Tuner card with a better reputation.

4 out of 5 eggsNice, but......

Pros: Amazing HD picture and sound. Great price. Lots of extra features I have not tried. If you have access to cable HD TV and want a quality HD tuner for your computer, this is a winner.

Cons: The Total Media Software, wants to lock up your computer. It's fairly easy to resolve with System Mechanic and Glary Utilities. Only recommended for users with at least a level 4 Tech knowledge.
