4 out of 5 eggsGreat little system when combined with Ext. HDD

Pros: The unit functions great and is universal remote compatible.

My Logitech Harmony was easily programmed to use this.

Functions as a great DVR player when coupled with 1TB+ external Hard Drives.

Plays many different formats.

Great Tech support and RMA service

Cons: Highly susceptible to Power line related damage.

When a power surge hit my home I thought my Kworld was unaffected until I tried watching it on HDMI in 1080P 60Hz.
After some trial and error I determined that the HDMI functionality was somehow damaged by the surge and now it can only output video on HDMI with 50Hz max and only in interlace mode. All of the other video outputs work fine though.

Would be nice to have an option to output Audio to the 3.5MM jack at all times including in HDMI mode.

Other Thoughts: I am on my second player now and my second one is even damaged from a storm surge. Please make sure you only ever use the power adapter that came with the unit, my external hard drive uses a plug that is 2 volts higher and 2.5 amps less than the Kworld's plug. Unfortunately the power connectors were an exact match and got mixed up one day. Upon plugging the higher voltage/Lower amperage adapter into the Kworld, It had made a loud pop and stopped working all together. I RMA'd the unit and the adapter too and received the replacements in 3 weeks time.

This device seems to not have any over power countermeasures built in and will fry in an instant if you are not careful. I had my unit plugged into a high grade surge protector and it still got zapped.

Besides those minor power issues, this is an absolutely beneficial product to me.

Other Thoughts: Bought this a few months ago as a backup to my other media player. Just plugged it in nothing. Going to send it back to the manufacturer.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: There is nothing positive that I can say about this thing. It was dead out of the box.

Cons: I double checked everything, but all I ever got was noise on the TV screen. The buttons on the remote had no effect when pushed. I tried several USB sticks in both NTFS and FAT32 format. I tried an SD card. Nothing worked. Black and white noise on the TV screen.

Other Thoughts: I am thankful for the reviews. I won't buy anything else unless there are favorable reviews. Now I have to figure out if this thing is worth exchanging for another. I certainly can't recommend this to anyone.

1 out of 5 eggsDont waste your money!!!

Pros: NONE!!

Cons: This box could not play bluray isos as advertised. The playback was choppy. Even the quality of the picture for other formats was not good at all. I returned this and got a wdtv live and i am extremely happy.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't discard your retail box

Pros: Plays many media formats well.

Cons: Died after about 2 weeks of use.
So far, all my emails to Kworld have gone unanswered. The Kworld site is of very little help when service is needed. I do not recommend this item.

Other Thoughts: This is a follow-up on previously place review. Tech service number is (626) 581-0867. KEEP YOUR RETAIL BOX! This is almost like a money making thing when the manufacturing company requires an original retail box with the returned item before any after sale service. Be aware that each box is unique to the item in it. Yes, the box is tagged with the serial number affixed to it and matching the M130. Newegg is not allowed to do anything regarding receipt for return to KWorld unless the item is in the original retail box.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Adiquate Support

Pros: When working the device is very good.

Cons: Continually request product information that has not been adiquately covered in the manual and I receive no replies. Also, it says it supports NTSF format, forget it. It will see the files but will not play them. Reformat HD to esFAT and they start working. File size constraint is absent in esFAT. FAT32 is constrained to a 2GB file limit. I continually asked what is maximum HD size supported on this device and I am still awaiting an answer. It does work with a 2TB HD though. Suggest you get the AV HD to easily support streaming video and have a high tolerance for bit errors. In other words, choose a HD made for DVRs. You will never see a few bits off in the video. I purchaed 3 of these. After 2 weeks the first one gave up. KWorld site says to work with the seller. I see no way I can get service from KWorld directly.

Other Thoughts: Do not recomend you purchase from KWorld. Look at Patriot or WD Media Player. Pay a little more and maybe get some support and longevity for the extra cost.

5 out of 5 eggsKworld - a pleasant surprise

Pros: I have to admit, I wasn't expecting much with this device, but was pleasantly surprised. The unit boots up immediately and has played every video file I've tried. No fancy interface, but no big delay loading a bloated GUI either.
Get the popcorn - it's Showtime!

Cons: The only trouble I've had is some ISO files. Some it plays, some it won't. Probably related to how the ISO was created, but I think with a bit of trial and error, I'll work that out

Other Thoughts: All in all, definitely worth the price when it was on sale, and maybe even the regular price. This may not be the media player for your fancy living room entertainment center, but if you want something you can just plug an SD card, flash drive, or even full USB drive into and play videos on a TV - this works!

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Media Player

Pros: Plays 8-Bit MKV files fine without any issues. Cost was cheap with recent promo code.

Cons: Does NOT play 10-Bit MKV files. Well actually it plays the files but no video is displayed on screen. The audio works but as I'v said no video for 10bit mkv files. Tried multiple 10-bit mkv files and all did the same thing...Only audio came out.

Other Thoughts: Bought this for my dad so that I no longer have to convert avi and mkv files to dvd. The unit responds slowly to commands from remote but for the price I can't complain. Thinking about ordering another one as a Christmas gift for someone.
