5 out of 5 eggsAn awesome device anyhow

Pros: Things I've learned;

Never owned a simple device like this before, and despite any flaws- really, it works quite well !

1. If running 64bit, BEFORE ANYTHING you likely need to disable driver signature reinforcement ! You will know you are good to go when the red UAC driver box pops up "Install This Driver anyway"
How to: http://sabrent.com/support/knowledgebase.php?article=14

2. The CD drivers & Software included do work fine. You might need .exes to run in compatibility mode for 7 or Vista. I in fact had to roll back to CD drivers, as the Windows update/device install service versions got no signal.

3. Try not push the coaxial in too far, in fact the connect is just an pop-on extender cap to the board coaxial inside - you can back the exposed cap off a bit if shorting/or no signal seems evident.

4. Another "couldn't get remote working", but no reason to need it! Since using TV splitter & placing the device after the cable box - I keep the software on cbl channel 3, merely cycling channels through regular cable TV remote.

Cons: *same as above

Other Thoughts: Not too bad! Competitive price + all I needed... at least. Have no tested S-video, but coaxial signal is nice and clear with good sound!

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work

Pros: none

Cons: The drivers caused my computer to crash. Every time It tried to install the last file it crashed. It also wiped out some other drivers including sound and CD-rom drives.

2 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Eh - The remote worked, and so did the tuner, but just barely.

Cons: This thing is a piece of junk. I felt compelled to give it two stars, however, simply because it worked, but just barely. The picture quality was terrible - it was snowy and the audio was filled with constant crackling. I trashed it after trying unsuccessfully for a month to get a better image.

Other Thoughts: Steer clear of this one, apparently it's a crapshoot.

2 out of 5 eggsugh

Pros: It's cheap.

Cons: Picture quality sucks. I mean it's really bad. I don't know if I got a defective unit or what... It works, but the screen's fuzzy, there is certainly no shortage of artifacts, and the audio is permeated with static. I tried changing the standard (NTSC, PAL, SECAM), but that didn't work. I tried reinstalling the drivers three times, as well as trying Dscaler, but I got the same results. I would definitely not recommend this product. Go for something known for quality, like Diamond, ATI or that german-sounding brand (forget the name). This thing's really a piece of junk.

2 out of 5 eggsDONT WASTE YOUR TIME

Pros: Great idea. Inexpensive.

Cons: Poor quality. Video recording is horrible. Between video freezing, locking up, and video quality, its horrible.

Other Thoughts: Im returning mine and going to try something better.
For your info : Dell 2400, Celeron 2.4 , 1G memory, 128mb Nvidia 5200 video card.
