Pros: Works as advertised

Cons: Did not function with my ASUS Sabertooth Z77 running BIOS 1708, once I updated to BIOS 1805 everything worked great. Issue was with the MB BIOS, not the VANTEC card.

Pros: No drivers needed, FW 400 & 800 ports
Plug'n Play under Win7 x64

Cons: Incompatible with Windows 8 x64.

Other Thoughts: The first time I've installed it, Windows saw an unknowned device but there were no drivers available. It's the only time Windows 8 saw something. I tried it in another slot, nothing was detected, I've tried it again in the first slot, this time nothing was detected. I've checked the voltage from my power supply and everything was fine.

After that, I tried it in another computer running Windows 7 x64, it was immediately detected and Windows installed the drivers and all was fine, that's why I think there's an issue with Win8 x64

Other Thoughts: This is a TI Chipset for those that are wondering. No issues with my Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP.

Pros: * Works out of the box under OS X.
* Very easy to install
* No config necessary
* Not that expensive

Cons: * Could have another port or two. I'd like a second FW400, and a third FW800.
* Had some issues with Windows 7 and FW drivers

Pros: I am a first time builder. I had no problem installing this. So far it does the job! I haven't had any Problems.

Pros: It's got a Texas Instrument chipset, which is nice. OSX sometimes balks at other chipsets. Decent price. Plug and play. No issues.

Other Thoughts: I decided to give this card a try, nowhere on Vantec's website or on the internet could I find what chip was on this card. Thankfully Newegg has good pics of it so I could see the TI logo on the chip.

I wanted a 2nd computer to edit music on, and firewire audio devices are VERY picky about the brand of chip. This card works on my Tyan K8SE board with a M-Audio ProjectMix I/O firewire audio device. I still had to configure things like on-board devices and PowerNow to eliminate all the pops and clicks on anything above 48KHz.
