VANTEC 2 Channel 4-Port SATA 6 Gb/s PCIe Host Card Model UGT-ST622

Pros: Works great in my application. Using it on WHS 2008, ASUS mobo, Intel I7, needed extra SATA ports. Now driving 5 WD HDD's, DVD, and 2 SSD. Installed in under 2 minutes, loaded driver and it worked....no problems.

Cons: none in my current use of the board.

Other Thoughts: going to buy another for my WIN 8 64K box. The ASUS M5A99X R2.0's that I use on several box's only have 6 internal SATA ports.

Pros: 2 ports drives - configurable to eSATA or SATA!

I have 2x3TB Seagate DM drives connected that work great with this card. Decent read speeds 150 MB/s with hard drives.

Cons: To get most out of SSDs, get a faster card.

Other Thoughts: This model is exactly same as more expensive StarTech PEXESAT322I.

Pros: This controller possibly works.

Cons: This controller possibly works, but not for my application. I specifically searched for eSATA Server 2012 and this item came up, within Newegg's search. Other Server 2008 64bit drivers usually work for Server 2012 Storage Controllers. This one does not. It does not present to the system at all.

Other Thoughts: The BIOS shows the first drive in a multi lane enclosure as you would expect. However, as there are no drivers, and the disc did not present anything useful, I had to pull the card. The setup.exe runs through a wizard for driver installs, which I don't care for. I did it as a last resort just in case they had an archive that was hiding the INF from a Device Manager scan. Nope. Locked up the server and had to force reboot. Server recovered OK.

Pros: Easy to install easy to use

Cons: Jumper settings could be clearer, but after thinking about it no problem. It would be nice to have a picture showing internal ports vs. external ports.

Other Thoughts: I was able to correctly set the jumpers first try so maybe it is not too bad. I had no issues with causing problems with USB ports or other Sata ports. I believe some have reported these types of issues I have seen none of them

Pros: great card, does exactly what i wanted, and even came with two sata cables

Other Thoughts: works perfect in w8 x64, get latest drivers from WWW

Pros: Worked out of the box before I even installed drivers. Driver installation was easy, just ran setup.exe from the driver I downloaded from website.
Didn't conflict with my hardware RAID. Much faster than USB2.0, probably faster than my external drive supports.
Comes with two short sata cables which I didn't need.
Good value.

Cons: Jumpers to change from external to internal ports could be easier. An eSata plug for disabled ports would be nice. I used tape. Didn't come with eSata cable.
In the long run, perhaps I should have bought a card with more ports, but this is what I needed right now.

Other Thoughts: Window 7x64 professional

Used one port for external 2TB drive and the other for internal bluray drive. Now that I've freed up a sata port on the motherboard, I need to find a place for a sixth RAID drive.

Pros: Don't know, wouldn't work.

Cons: This card will only work in AHCI mode. This mode is only available in newer southbridge chips. There is no where in the readily available information which discloses this. Also, on an xp build the AHCI drivers have to be separately installed for the specific southbridge. The only place the AHCI requirement is disclosed is in the driver download package.

Pros: Easy Install, driver loaded by itself.

Cons: None

Pros: Was delivered.

Cons: The card goes into PCIe-1, disables all USB ports, so no mouse or keyboard are functional.
Tried different driver, still doesn't work.
Will return it.

Pros: Works with Drives that are less than 2Tb in size.

Cons: Doesn't work with drives that are larger than 2Tb. I tried contacting support and response was great but they kept blaming my equipment which didn't impress me.

Other Thoughts: I bought this card to add another drive into my Windows Home Server which is based on Windows 2003. I purchased a Startech PEXSAT32 and everything was great. It was slightly more expensive but it works with EVERY size drive.
