4 out of 5 eggsInternal or External not both!!

Pros: - Decent pice.
- Marvel controller allows some sophisticated options such as SSD cashing.

Cons: - you can only use the 2 internal connectors or the 2 external ESATA connectors. This is a shame as if atlease one port outside was accessible I would be able to keep my raid 1 and use my external enclosure with ESATA.

Other Thoughts: Overall good controller for good price. Its not an expensive card so cant complaint that much.
If you need Esata and SATA choose another card.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Connects my external drives to my computer essentially as manufacturer described. No consistent problems.

Cons: When trying to boot external drives, the card does not always work to boot the drive. Shutdown, or at least a log-off, cures the problem. Data transfer rates also seem slow.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected

Pros: Works as expected. Comes configured as SATA so if you want eSATA you have to set the jumpers prior to installing.

Cons: At least in my machine I have to remove the card to change the pins to set as eSATA or SATA.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a charm.

Pros: Doesn't add but 2 seconds to POST, detected both my 4TB WD Greens, copy/move speeds are great, no bottlenecks that I noticed.

Cons: None, took all of 10 minutes to put it in, along with the drives.

Other Thoughts: Should have gotten the 4 port internal.

3 out of 5 eggsTitle missleading

Pros: easy to install and small... seems to be faster than 3 Gb/s native on board.

Cons: Can only use two ports at a time. The unit has four ports but can only use two at a time. Have to change jumpers to change ports.

3 out of 5 eggsUse the 1.3.4 drivers for Win7 x64

Pros: Fast transfer speeds.
Cheap.
Supports SATA 6 Gb/s.
Internal and external ports.

Cons: I haven't rebooted this much since Windows 98!

I'm using a Thermaltake BlacX Duet and with I'm unable to prevent BIOS from attempting to boot to these drives with it powered on.

This wouldn't be so bad if port multiplier would work properly; the only way I can see both drives is by when after the PCIe card's bios flashes, and before Windows loads I turn my external enclosure on. I'd love a setting to disable this. The drives are seen in the BIOS, and disabling them from the boot sequence doesn't affect this. I have UEFI disabled and I'm not sure if this matters, but I think it doesn't.

The jumpers could be clearer. I (thought I) followed the diagram and still got it backwards. Doesn't matter much since I wanted one internal and one external active - I just switched the cables.

Other Thoughts: I'm on Win7 x64 and the disk comes with driver version 1.3.8. The driver on the website is 1.3.4. Naturally I tried 1.3.8 first and ran into the port multiplication problems. I uninstalled it and reinstalled 1.3.4 and it seems to be working as expected, but this was a lot of trouble.

Transferring a single 4gig file from a 6 Gb/s drive is moving at about 120 Mb/s. About what I expected, and perfectly fine for my needs.

3 out of 5 eggseasy set up

Pros: The card was installed in under 5 minutes. Machine recognized it and Win8 installed the drivers on its own. I did an update just to make sure I had the latest drivers - the ones on the disk it comes with are not the newest - so update drivers after initial install.

Cons: Does not do what I needed it to do. -- see other thoughts

Other Thoughts: I bought this card to solve issues I am having with a Vantec NST-640S3R-BK 4 drive raid enclosure. There is a USB driver issue with my mobos chipset - this is not vantecs fault. I bought this card because it is from vantec and advertises port multiplying - which is needed for the 4 drive enclosure.
1. The machine hangs on boot until I turn off the drive enclosure.
2. The computer only sees the first drive in the encloser - 1 time I did get it to see the second of 4 drives.

I have a HP P6 2330 running Win8 w/ the following upgrades,,, 14GB ram, 120GB SSD drive, Seagate 3TB drive (Data storage)
I have gone back to the USB 3 connection and wil deal with the original issues - at least when it works I can access all 4 drives.....
I assume this will work great for a single drive enclosure/ dock

5 out of 5 eggsA Little Piece of Heaven

Pros: This product works as expected and will acknowledge 1.5 and 3.0 hard drive's that has older Motherboards or Motherboards that does not UEFI .
This Host Card makes it possible to open full Hard Drive capacity without going into Bios and change the Sata configuration to AHCI and changing the values in the Sata Registry

Cons: None
