IOGEAR Wireless HD Computer to TV Kit GUWAVKIT2 VGA/HDMI Interface

Pros: Loved the wireless ability to stream and the audio coming from the TV. Worked great until it decided to stop.

Cons: Stopped working after four months for no reason that I can find. I kept in in view and it is no more than six feet away. The screen is not picking up a single from the receiver and the light no longer blinks.

Other Thoughts: Really bummed that this stopped working because I really liked it but it is a little pricey to buy every four months. :(

Pros: Works for Programs and pictures at 1080p (on a toshiba 55"). Installed with out a problem (Driver 1.1). I have no transmission issues

Cons: Video and mouse pointer is a little laggy. Playing a DVD on it the audio is fast then the video.(not quite synced). It looks like it only using one processor to create the video. So you need a fast core processor two run it. (IOGear needs to make driver muti-theaded). Looks like my AMD FX-4100 is almost fast enough. (running on one core)

Other Thoughts: Some update drivers needed badly. With IOGEAR GKM551R Keyboard and mouse is great combo with if it wasn't so laggy. (Installed in conference room)

Pros: ?

Cons: Does not reach 30 feet, & direct line of site in big home is unrealistic.

Other Thoughts: Choose a mini/booksize computer connected directly to your TV. Less hassle & DVI & HDMI connections.

Cons: Can't speak for PC but, DOES NOT WORK FOR MAC. don't even try (even though they say it will).

Pros: Easy set up, installed automatically on three computers, had to run the install disc on one other computer. allows a laptop to display on a tv in a conference room. We also purchased a couple more for classroom computers in an office to display on a projector in the classroom.

Cons: Does not transmit through walls or other objects well, it is not designed for this and we knew that when we purchased it. Does not work well with full screen applications (tried with a youtube video). It plays the video fine in normal view, but when you click full screen it just shows a black screen, but you can hear the audio.

Other Thoughts: We had a problem with a weak signal in one room, but there are options to change the channel and that cleared up the problem. Our classroom setups are using VGA, and the receiver is connected to the computer via a usb extension cable to allow the receiver to be mounted on the wall in the classroom while plugged into the computer in the office.

I am sorry but the GUWAVKIT2 is limited to 30 feet and this is a line of site product as stated in the devise specifications. The maximum resolution for the GUWAVKIT2 is 720DPI. If your resolution is set higher than 720DPI, this can cause a black screen as you are describing. I suggest downloading the updated graphic driver direct from display link this may help with the video problem you are describing. http://www.displaylink.com/support/downloads.php. Pros: works with vista

Cons: after i got this i learned (from iogear tech support) that they have dropped win7 support. this is unacceptable

i learned this after i upgraded to win7 and decided to try this out. as soon as i installed the software i lost all windows aero support. it was not disabled but actually removed by this software. i could see the aero get removed as the software was installing. i contact tech support and their solution was to go back to win vista.

Other Thoughts: his is an fail by iogear and everyone who buys this needs to know of the lack of win7 support because on the details page for the product here on newegg, win7 is still listed

other than that i works great on vista. runs a bit hot but as long as it keeps working it is not an issue.

due to the lack of support this now just sits in a drawer and does nothing.

Pros: Once you get past some erroneous install guides, all works as it should.

Daily hook up is simple. Power up the receiver unit, plug in dongle, open automatic window, switch source on TV to PC. Go to your web site. Perfect.

Line of sight 25ft works fine from a Toshiba Laptop displaying 720p. No interruptions other than our download speed. Looks very good. Wife watched about 25hrs of Chinese Soap operas from the web without a hitch. She's happy. Uses it weekly.

Cons: Installation instructions as above. One needs to be flexible in your thinking.

Dongle gets HOT!! So far hasn't hurt it's performace though.

Sure wish it could do digital audio instead of merely analog.

Other Thoughts: Had it for 10 months and she enjoys it much. For the money, a great little device. If our laptop display was capable of 1080i I am sure that the picture would look even better.

Could IoGear come up with a second dongle/device that'd transmit whatever audio is available via the webstream via digital, and allow an 2nd HDMI or digital coax receiver to send audio to our AVR's digitally? Would allow better audio correction.

Pros: I have an HTPC on one TV and wanted to use this with my laptop for our other TV to watch Netflix and Hulu, etc... Seemed like a good option.

Cons: It didn't work at all for video. I tried it with a Core2 Duo laptop with nVidia graphics running Win7. It worked great for just simple computer useage, but wouldn't render anything in my web browser. It had a pretty noticable lag, except for my pointer. I tried every configuration with no result. I also tried it with an i7 Win7 laptop also with nVidia graphics with the same result. It will render the desktop well, but had serious lag with anything in my web browser. I followed their direction to the letter and was never able to get Netflix streaming to my TV. The transmitter and reciever both got VERY HOT with any amount of use.

Other Thoughts: Excellent idea for a product. Lousy execution. Wireless video shouldn't be this hard. I want a product that is plug and play. This isn't it.

Pros: Picture is great, vga, hdmi, and stereo options make it easy to connect multiple devices.

Wirelessly connecting to my tv and surround system makes my computer far more usable.

Cons: sometimes ill get a glitch here or there, stops working or audio becomes distorted, unplugging it and plugging it back in from my pc corrects it. I have had my computer crash a few times when i just pulled it out suddenly.

Other Thoughts: I find its a more versatile solution then an htpc, having an i7 laptop connected as opposed to an atom is a win.

Pros: It will transmit a video signal sufficient to display for a training or sales session.

Cons: Poor video. Poor resolution. Resolution will NOT match your monitors standard resolution. Your monitor video driver will be replaced will theirs, which may not match your video card well. It is useless for a remote monitor.
Set up required running the CD and then several restarts before it worked.
Tech support is not much help.

Other Thoughts: Tech support very fuzzy. They keep suggesting that I download new drivers. I did that before my first call. That is the only suggestion they have. NO OTHER HELP at all.
I want to return the item, but the box was torn when I opened the package so Newegg will not accept it for return and IOGear will not accept it for return either.
Overall, I am very disappointed with this purchase.
[I also bought the IOGear remote wireless keyboard, which worked okay, but is useless since the Video does not work.]
