1 out of 5 eggsSTOP! BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT!

Pros: Compact size. Nice design. Can be mounted. USB power to receiver from TV USB port means one less power cord dangling from the wall. Very easy to hook up to my existing home theater system. Nice gadget (if it worked).

Cons: I purchased this product on 4/29. It was very easy to connect with my home theater system. However the transmitter and receiver would not synchronize with each other even though they were only one foot apart and in direct line of sight. The synchronization process stayed in an infinite loop, failed after each four attempts to connect. I called the technical support line and my call was answered in less than one minute. The tech was very friendly and courteous. I explained my issue and was told that my configuration was ideal and that there is not much that could be done to troubleshoot the issue further. She recommended that I disconnect the power for three minutes and then try again. If they didn't connect with each other then the units would be deemed defective. I followed her advice but to no avail. The units still failed to connect. I obtained an RMA and returned the unit.

I decided to order another unit thinking I just had bad luck with the first one. Guess what? The second unit did the exact same thing as the first. I called technical support again. Again my call was answered quickly, within two minutes, and the tech support guy, Arnold, was very friendly and helpful. I explained my current and previous situation. He asked me to read his the serial number of the units. No sooner than I read the first four characters of the serial number he told me I could stop. He explained that he was starting to see a pattern of issues with serial numbers starting with OU32 and OU34. He asked me to send an email to the support mailbox and provide all of the details which I did. Arnold responded to my email within 15 minutes acknowledging receipt of my email and letting me know that he forward the details to the product engineer. I'm waiting to hear back from them. They say they will respond within 24 hours. Hopefully they can provide a firmware update to correct the situation.

I advise staying away from this product until I hear back from them. Once I get a resolution, one way or another, I will post an update with the outcome. If I have to send this unit back I will never buy another IOGear product again.

Manufacturer Response:

First, thank you for choosing IOGEAR and we apologize for your experience. We recommend an operating distance of a minimum of 6.5 feet and a maximum of 100 feet between transmitter and receiver. We currently have no know issues with the above mentioned serial numbers. Since you are having connection issues with the transmitter and receiver we would recommend contact us again at 1-866-946-4327 or email us: support@iogear.com so that we can help to reslove your issue. Again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Plug everything in and it works as it should. I have the transmitter in another room, with the door closed, 50' from the receiver sitting in a cabinet behind a glass door and it sends a surprisingly clear picture. Takes a few extra seconds for the picture to show up on the screen but that's obviously going to happen. No lag or oddities with sound either. IR works great with PS3 controllers and remote.

Cons: The IR is pretty weak when it comes to a Comcast remote and storing the receiver behind a TV but works as it should when in line of sight.

Small thing but the IR plug has to be pushed into the receiver somewhat forcefully and if not connected properly will cause the IR blasters not to function. Might be part of the problem with the IR blaster that I have read a few times.

Transmitter and receiver get hot when streaming.

Other Thoughts: Don't use garbage HDMI cables with this hardware. If you're willing to spend $200+ on this type of item then splurge and get the good stuff to improve your setup.

4 out of 5 eggsworks very well

Pros: Transmits HD through an industry standard (WHDI I believe?) for sending 1080 wirelessly. I have my reciever strapped to the back of my TV powered by a USB port. 2-source with pass through shows that some actual thought was put into this as opposed to rushing to market.

Cons: Heavy bandwidth of 1080p makes for short range. I couldn't transmit reliably from upstairs and one room over: I had to move the xmit to right above the reciever. Some lag time too, you can look at one TV in a room, and if you move fast enough you can see the same picture again on the receiving end. I'd say it's about half a second or so. Definitely not for gaming, but for media it'll work just fine. Expensive for what it is.

Other Thoughts: Included a template for the reciever to be mounted on the wall, which I thought was cool. Can't comment on the IR blaster or anything since my remotes are RF.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great wish they had this years ago.

Pros: Simple to hook-up, very straight forward installation.

Cons: Maybe a bit of a lag when starting-up but this is expected.

Other Thoughts: Sharing my satellite box with another room, was using RG-6 cable but the HD didn't work. So I ordered this firstly to remote my PC monitor to a 40"HDTV in my office but since I didn't have that ready I thought I'd try it with my sat box, and I couldn't be happier. (I used to have to switch my HD receiver to 720p if I wanted to watch tv in the other room and channels like HBO and Stars, wouldn't even show-up without changing to composite cables, so screw that)
I couldn't be happier with this IOGEAR wireless interface. If anyone is looking to share cable or satellite boxes with other rooms this is the device for you and you don't have to run wires.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: Great if you want 480P & don't need the IR.

Cons: This thing was a waste of my time. I thought I'd try new technology to avoid having to run wires etc. The TVs are no more than 25' away & only have to go through 1 wall and 1 floor. I have the Comcast HD DVR box, the IR on the wireless unit barely worked and my box kept switching from 1080i to 480P both of my TVs are 1080P and have connected to the Comcast box individually @ 1080i. After an hour of messing around with it, I put the receiver right next to the transmitter and had the same issue with it switching to 480P.
I'm boxing it up and sending it back. I'll stick with a quality 30' hdmi cable and the Xfinity app on my phone to change the channel.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for choosing IOGEAR and we apologize for the inconvenience. The GW3DHDKIT has been tested up to 100 feet with a 2d and 3d source with full HD and 3d signals to the receiver. Depending on what is inside the wall, the range will vary from location to location. To better service you and understand your set up, please feel to contact our customer support at 1-866-946-4327 or email us: support@iogear.com. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Wireless A/V device I have used

Pros: Very easy to setup, right out of the box. Superb picture quality and this is HDCP compliant. No interference.

Cons: Price was a bit high, but compared to many other comparable devices.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a 2.4 GHz wireless A/V device I was using. There was a lot of interference, especially from microwave ovens. I started getting the messages on my TV that I needed an HDMI or Component cable connection to view protected content from my DirecTV receiver. After reviewing many other 5 GHz devices, I came across this one and liked the fact it used HDMI and was HDCP compliant. Setup was a breeze and I was watching TV in the other room in minutes.

4 out of 5 eggsBetter then Vizios'

Pros: Small appliance. Low heat output. No noticeable laspe in picture or sound to TV. Works great with my Logitech Harmony Remote 890.

Cons: I have a Directv HD DVR and a HTPC connected to the wireless switch which about 20 feet apart from the TV. Sometimes the switching between sources will hang and not detect the signal of the device. This only occurs maybe 1 out 10 times which is not enough for me to return to the store as it still provides outstanding connectively to the TV. This problem is still worth mentioning so that it can be looked into and improved.

Other Thoughts: This device is by far way better than the one Vizio sells to do the job. This device works as advertised. A bit pricey but from what is currently out on the market, this is the only one that will work.

1 out of 5 eggsShould Still Be In the Lab - Up Date

Pros: Small footprint
Two inputs
Receiver can be powered by a USB port
When working, HD looks great.

Cons: IR blaster not reliable, doesn't work with some Comcast boxs.
Blaster on front side, so it you wall mount it, it isn't line of site.
The input lights are small and useless.
Tech support is not ready for prime time, they could help you open the box it came in.

Other Thoughts: Update 3/6:
I was told once again around 2/20 by Iogear that they would send the problem up to someone to work it. Nothing. I have sent two email asking what was the hold up, no response as of today.

Update 3/26:
New email a week ago asking for the same info they already asked for and got. I've since sent the support ID number to every email address I could find for Iogear, as of today, no response.

In reference to the Manufacturer Response, mouse and audio delay are only there when I use their device. I've emailed your support line and get a runaround and no call back, I don't believe you know what problems your customers are actually having, much less if a problem is duplicated elsewhere.
