3 out of 5 eggsHit or Miss?

Pros: It *can* work with Windows 7... you just have to sweet-talk it and use Windows Media Center, ***NOT*** the software that comes with it.
The bundled software *is* actually very simple and well-organized with intuitive controls

Cons: Doesn't work intuitively with Windows 7... but I'm pretty sure that is Windows' fault... not ASUS.
Manual that comes with it is pretty much useless... =/

Other Thoughts: Windows 7 apparently has some kind of control on what signals it will read. So be careful and do your research before you buy. If you buy this expecting to just plug it in and everything to work, think again. You're going to have to be willing to work with this stuff for a bit...

3 out of 5 eggsWorked right away in Vista

Pros: I purchased several TV tuner cards from Newegg and this one was the first one to work in Media Center. None of the cheap cards under $50 worked so don't waste your time buying them.

Cons: I started to have problems with this card when Windows 7 was released. Tech support is bad and wouldn't help me resolve the problem. In Windows 7 Media Center I couldn't see over the air DTV channels even though it found at least 20 channels. I had to manually configure Media Center to view DTV channels.

Other Thoughts: Based on my experience with TV tuner cards, I would only buy Asus, Avermedia, and Hauppauge TV tuners.

1 out of 5 eggsRespose to manufact

Pros: Manufacturer Response:Hi!

If you feel the user experience with the bundled TotalMedia software is not what your looking for, the My Cinema PHC3-100 will also work with other TV tuner software such as Windows Media Center. Also, we appreciate your feedback on the bundled documentation; we will be using the updated manual such as the version online with new shipments.

Thanks

ASUS Support Team online with new shipments.

Cons: Yes let me go buy a new operating system to run your product...

Already RMA going to a more reliable company whose product is actually supported by the software shipped with the product thank you.

Other Thoughts: that is all

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth the buy

Pros: Installed with Windows 7 ultimate. Didn't take much to get installed.

Cons: Windows media center did not recognize the radio receiver. The software that ships with the product clashed with media center. Video in and sound in did not work on my TV, i had to run video through my VGA card and sound through my normal sound card. Really bad documentation included with the product. Picked less channels when plugged into Cable than digital antena

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Plugged in the card and let Win7 install the drivers. Media Center recognized everything...cable, air, qam, and fm. Remote works great and responds fast. Also controls the basic functions of Cyberlink Powerdvd. Nice to have the ability to shut-down, sleep, and wake the computer by remote also.
By far, the best card I've used yet.

Cons: Regular price, no free shipping...

Other Thoughts: I didn't bother with the instructions, setup was easy enough...I did not install Total Media, but it was not necessary either...Media Center does it all.

1 out of 5 eggsonboard software is garbage

Pros: installed easy drivers were a breeze

Cons: Onboard software is garbage. It doesn't even detect the card. Documentation was really horrible too. VERY poor quality of documentation. online manual was somewhat better

Other Thoughts: coupled with better software could be a great card for the price

5 out of 5 eggsA snap to install

Pros: W/no local TV Sta's, have CableOne channels. Installed this tuner and booted up. Went to M/C and clicked on manual set-up. Entered zip code and selected "CableOne" and lo & behold, I got all my channels, and they all look great. Put batteries in remote, plugged the 'egg' with the black face into a port and sat down on the couch and started channel surfing. Am using Vista home prem & am really looking forward to W7 upgrade. Recorded & watched Mon nite football by clicking remote on tv guide just to see if it worked. Nothing could be simpler.

Cons: Manual not really of much use. Each connector on the pci card is labled, though, so that's all you need.

Other Thoughts: Downloaded 'Lifextender' and it removed 52 minutes of commercials from football game without me having to do a thing. If people find out about this, NewEgg is going to have a hard time keeping these tuners in stock. I love mine.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than had hoped

Pros: Great value buy.
Better quality remote than others I have tried.
Excellent integration with Windows Media Center in Vista/7.
For the money, this is the card to get.

Cons: Bundled software is worthless.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for a HTPC I was building. It has worked better than I had hoped with Windows 7RC and WMC.

If you actually do your research and understand the card's specs and what it is designed to do, you will be very pleased with its performance for the price.

2 out of 5 eggsBad reception

Pros: Nice appearance

Cons: Poor drivers, uncomfortable remote, unresponsive buttons, extremely poor reception.

Other Thoughts: After buying, returned to Newegg and just used my old NTSC tuner with a converter box/IR transmitter. I had to rig Vista Media Center into giving me the programming for my guide (found them in my local Comcast listings, but the reception is much better, the savings are higher, and frustrations are lower.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Soundbite,

We would like to help clear up some of the issues you have experienced with this tuner. The driver is based on the standard Windows WHQL driver for TV tuner cards. For the remote, it is a high quality remote similar to the popular Windows Media Center remote. For information about getting better reception, we suggest checking the antennaweb.org website which will let you know which stations have the best signal in your area. This tuner card also supports Window Media Center which is another option for those who chose to not use the bundle software.

Thanks

1 out of 5 eggsThe lights are on but nobody's home

Pros: Has everything I want, antenna, cable, radio and RCA jacks. Includes remote and antenna and the price is right.

Cons: Problems with the device driver. Device manager only shows the yellow "!" and says there was a problem loading the driver. None of the media applications recognize a tuner device in the computer. Filed a report with ASUS. We'll see what they have to say.

Other Thoughts: Running Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi,

Check to see if it is a problem with the PCI slot; try it with the tuner card installed in a different PCI slot in the motherboard. Additionally, if you have another PC, try installing the tuner card in there to see if the same problem follows the tuner card. If there is still a problem, you can contact our technical support department at http://vip.asus.com/eservice/techserv.aspx for further assistance.

Thanks
