2 out of 5 eggsGreat Price, Poor Quality

Pros: Much less expensive than the Apple-branded adapter.
Quick, hassle-free purchase and shipping from Newegg

Cons: Stopped working by the fifth use.

Other Thoughts: Bought this adapter to hook my MacBook (late 2012) to the projector in my classroom and for giving presentations in graduate school. Luckily it worked for the 2 presentations I had for the spring semester, but it stopped working in a couple of weeks. It also cause my computer to hang up a bit when I tried to use it today.

2 out of 5 eggsWhen it DID work, it worked well

Pros: * Worked as advertised (converted VGA signal to Mini DisplayPort).

* Took up a relatively small amount of room.

Cons: * The reach on it is very short, you are basically forced into putting it next to your Mini DisplayPort, unless you have some kind of extender.

* I paid 25$ for something that barely works, less than a year later.

Other Thoughts: The converter did its job, but I'm not even at the 1 year mark and it no longer functions. To be clear, the convert isn't *completely* dead, but I have to fiddle with it for ~10 minutes until it sits _perfectly_ inside of the Mini DisplayPort on my Macbook Pro to register my external monitor. During this process, the monitor will be flipping on and off repeatedly due to the poor connection.

Within this 1 year time frame, I've barely used the converter. I would use it maybe, once or twice a month. When it wasn't actively being used, it would sit in a cabinet. I made sure to keep it tucked away since these converters are a pain to find and usually have to be ordered online.

I can't imagine how long this thing would have survived if I had been using it on a daily basis, or for something work related.

Long story short, it might save you some money to just upgrade to an HDMI monitor and bypass these flimsy VGA converters all together.
