Awesome card
- Pros: Works great. I've recorded plenty of shows with no problems. The software that comes with it is the best bundle you'll get for the price. Beyond TV is a great program and I recommend getting the full version with the dvd plugin. I have a core 2 duo 2.4ghz and while recording the cpu usage tops out at 5%. Not bad.
- Cons: The FM tuner doesn't seem to work that well. I can get one channel. That's ok though I didn't get it for the fm tuner.
- Other Thoughts: You're experience will obviously differ.
Excellent to build a cheap PVR
- Pros: Works well with snapstream beyond tv . The card driver installs in minutes but installing beyond tv is another story. It takes a little time but you'll get around it. I think Diamond makes excellent products.
- Cons: none
Decent, but flawed
- Pros: This is a very decently priced tuner card with a hardware MPG2 encoder. The white-box saves alomst quite a bit of money over the retail or other 550/560 cards.
- Cons: At times, there can be serious audio lag when watching tv. I have another tuner card that doesn't have the hardware encoder, and there isn't this issue. Also, if you are interested in setting up a dvr/pvr, get a dual tuner ... you'll be happy you did.
- Other Thoughts: Great for recording, poor for watching live TV or using to play console games. Also, the audio stream (when not lagging) is pretty bad. Updated drivers or other viewing utilities didn't help the audio lag, which leads me to believe that it has something to do with the hardware encoder.
