4 out of 5 eggsLocation Dependent

Pros: Setup is easy. Works under Windows 8 x64. Integrates well into Windows Media Center. Picks up free local over the air HDTV. If the antenna on this card does not get enough stations, you can hook up your own antenna.

Cons: Depending on your location and distance to the TV transmitters, you may or may not get a signal. I was able to pick up some of the local channels (PBS), but not others (CBS).

Other Thoughts: The problem with this sort of technology is not the card, it's the way OTA HDTV works. It's all about your location.

5 out of 5 eggsIdeal product

Pros: Works very well. Does everything I want it to.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: When I bought this product only Windows 7 was supported, not 8. Tried it with windows 8 and it does NOT work. Only really need it for Windows 7 and that is what the manufacturer advertised.

5 out of 5 eggsNifty Little Card

Pros: It does everything it says it does. I purchased this to go with a Charter Digital cable box on the chance that Charter would have unencrypted QAM digital TV, and this would be a cheap solution. Charter requires the whole CableCARD and a more expensive solution, unfortunately.

I ran the coax directly into this unit, no channels except the standard NTSC. So my hopes on getting the digital cable directly without the cable box are dashed.

So, I put this card through its paces, just to see what it's got. FM radio tuner, check - works fine. I went from the cable box both via coax and RCA. Both worked fine in WMC, except that I had to use the Charter remote to change channels. WMC recognizes only one channel - channel 4 - but that is because the cable box does all the signal conversion, blah blah.

I tried out the included ArcSoft software. It is actually better than WMC as WMC in Vista doesn't seem to allow you to look for both OTA HD (ATSC), and a cable box simultaneously. The ArcSoft package allows you to look for both and essentially you get your 5-10 (or whatever) OTA channels plus one 'dummy' channel that comes through the cable box.

I just used the drivers from the included disc and did not go to the website to look for updated drivers.

I replaced an ATI 650 tuner which does not do Clear QAM to try this 750 out.

Cons: None really. Card was a snap to install and set up. I'm just running Vista home premium on an FM1 A3300 AMD setup. Everything this card should do it does. I can't deduct an egg due to Charter cable not doing Clear QAM.

Other Thoughts: The next step in the Digital cable TV saga is probably something that requires a CableCARD. Thinking about just getting an internet only subscription from my cable company. My quest is to eliminate a monthly cable box rental fee for several box. Also, the Charter rep I spoke to was claiming a sort of Channel-geddon where most channels would become digital only. This hasn't happened. Frankly, I like the functionality of this 750 card and the 650 card in regular analog cable, and will probably just return the cable box. The next step will be a cablecard solution if I ever care enough to want to watch digital TV.

5 out of 5 eggsTerrific Quality

Pros: Works great with Win7 Ultimate. No noticeable change in picture quality on TV going through the tuner. Easy setup and works seamlessly with Windows Media Center. The remote is easy to use and has a nice long range. Decent little pack-in antenna as well. FM tuner works well.

Cons: Only a few quirks, but nothing that really breaks the experience. For some reason, the "Rewind" button on the remote doesn't function as it should in Windows Media Center. I also cannot get the on-screen keyboard to pop up in WMC with the remote. Additionally, I had to use the drivers on the pack-in disc, as the official website's downloadable drivers didn't seem to allow WMC to detect the tuner. I can't speak of included software, as I didn't even try it after seeing how nice the WMC experience was. For some reason, after the computer wakes from being asleep, the tuner no longer functions in WMC. A reset does the job (or not sleeping at all). This is still something I'm looking in to.

Other than the rewind issue and on-screen keyboard thing, the remote works very well with WMC.

Other Thoughts: Very happy with this card, especially for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as you would expect.

Pros: Easy to use, straightforward to set up, great picture, lots of extra stuff (All i use is the tuner itself and the coax adapter), and it's GOLD!

Cons: The PCI bracket doesn't align very well

Just use the drivers that come with the CD, and ONLY the drivers that come with the CD. You don't need the included software. I tried to download the latest drivers off of AMD/ATIs website, but they didn't work, so i just stuck with the drivers included on the disc, which, again, work perfectly.

Other Thoughts: Using the drivers that come on the disc, the tuner works perfectly with windows 8 pro 64 bit and media center.

If you don't have media center, there are quite a few free alternatives. In my attempts to get XBMC to stream Live TV to my ipod touch, I found that NextPVR is very easy to use. I could NOT figure out how to get live TV on my ipod, though. MythTV can do it, but setting it up was nearly impossible. Guides to install it on windows that can also be easily understood are nowhere to be found.

3 out of 5 eggsneeds software improvement

Pros: perfect image quality, low price

Cons: Slow start on a powerful quad processor desktop (takes long time to load program, scan channels, etc)
Once up and running, if you do something else in another window (email for ex) , and you want to lower volume, remote is NOT working unless you click mouse on Diamond window first.
Suction cup for the antenna not good, falls after few days after placed on glass window

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY!

Pros: NONE

Cons: Software provided, Total Media 3.5, kept locking up new computer utilizing Win 7 and would not scan all available channels. Windows media would not scan all channels either. Customer service from Diamond was worthless.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT BUY!

5 out of 5 eggsLove It

Pros: Currently one of two cards on a Windows 7 HTPC tuning Brighthouse cable in both HD, and SD. Its been running 9 months without missing a beat. No stability issues, and no even a single hiccup. Its my first HTPC, and its been way to easy.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsAmended rating.

Pros: With the driver downloaded from the Diamond URL I installed the Arcsoft software provided on the CD with the card. The installation proceeded smoothly and I was able to detect and view the satellite feed on channel 3 as well as the digital channels. I am feeding the satellite signal and the over the air signal to the outputs of a splitter which is acting as a combiner. Thus terrestrial, satellite, and FM radio signals all arrive to the card's input. The FM radio was a pleasant surprise. The Arcsoft software has a rich array of options.

Cons: None.

4 out of 5 eggsGood digital, no analog WMC.

Pros: I downloaded the Diamond software but only installed the Win7-64 driver. Card worked as it should both in digital over-the-air reception and recording. Good picture quality. Reasonable number of channels using the supplied antenna in my basement, however I'm using an outdoor antenna routinely. All this using Windows Media Center. I consider the card good value for the money.

Cons: I also have satellite TV outputting on analog channel 3. WMC won't detect any analog channels. Google search revealed WMC works only in analog for tuners having built-in MPG2 decoder. Which is not present in this tuner.

Other Thoughts: In spite of several warnings in the Newegg reviews I'll try the full downloaded software from Diamond. Perhaps that will access the analog tuner in the card.
