3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: worked great while it worked

Cons: 5 months, flawless operation. Then the remote quit. That is the only way you can operate the product, no manuel buttons at all.

4 out of 5 eggsWill not play all functions for MKV

Pros: When on sale this was a slick purchase. The downloaded manual clearly stated it supported MKV formats. I give it 4 eggs because it will play the other listed formats.

Cons: The USB porst were dead on arrival. Diamond quickly turned it around and everything worked. I could start playing an MKV format file and everything worked well until I would Pause, Back Up, Fast Forward. When pressing play the screen would freeze and the audio would continue to play. When the video did play, and this happened about 2% of the time, it contained large blocks that resembled artifacts. I called diamon after I had waited 48 hours after emailing them about this. I was informed this player was not ment to play MKV files. I informed them that the specification sheet I downloaded indicated the unit would. He said it was a typo. I later received an email from China that the 900 wouldn't support all functions associated with MKV files.

Other Thoughts: I am still using it to play MKV file. It will play them flawlessly if you don't interupt it. This is not being produced any more. I am certain a firmware update would have given full functionality to the MKVs. Just not going to happen.

1 out of 5 eggsExcrement

Pros: May be used as a one-hit hockey puck?

Cons: Bought this on a shell shocker. Mail in rebate was denied today. Filled out all the paperwork but for some reason they are saying that the invoice was not in there. I have heard of this scam before... That was the only reason I bought this. It works when it wants to, it feels cheap and the picture is pretty bad.

Other Thoughts: Diamond will never get another cent from me. Lesson learned

1 out of 5 eggsI wish I would not have been lured by the shell shocker

Pros: Easy to use

Cons: It randomly locks up and displays crazy colors and very loud sounds. The only way to stop it is to reboot it.
When it does work the remote has to be pointed directly at the light in front or it will not work.

Other Thoughts: By the time I opened it and started using it, my 30 days was up so now I am stuck with it.

2 out of 5 eggsTERRIBLE support!

Pros: Compact
Multiple I/O choices

Cons: Seems to be overheating
Picture drops to low bitdepth.
No response from Diamond MM support after a month

Other Thoughts: Device starts up just fine, but after a few seconds, the bit depth of the onscreen image - whether video or just the menu system - drops, and lots of color banding is apparent. Video looks like it did on old Sega Genesis CD games.

I created a support ticket with Diamond, and it's over a month later, and the message still says it hasn't been read.

5 out of 5 eggsDiamond Media Wonder MP900 - Nice Unit

Pros: Price, handles a wide range of photo and video formats, has 2 USB2 ports, remote seems a little cheap but works well - better than the one with the Avermedia unit this is replacing, unit is small enough to be portable.

Cons: The selectable image dwell times for a picture slide show are 3s, 5s, 10s, 30s, 60s, & 5m. A 15s option would be nice. Also, you either get no transition effect or a multitude of random ones; it would be nice to be able to select a particular transition, but I don't find this to be a big deal. Playing Xvid avis, the 2X fast forward is more like 10X, so you need to have one finger on the << button when you hit the >> button, to stop the ff before you overshoot; a bit annoying. This is a discontinued model.

Other Thoughts: I have this hooked up to a 42" Vizio LCD TV via the included composite cable (jack at one end, RCA connectors at the TV end [a similar component cable is also included, but not HDMI]). I ran out of HDMI cables -- I've ordered some, but cannot, at this point, comment on HDMI connectivity. The composite connection is O.K.

Since this is a discontinued model the main reason for my review is to point individuals who purchased it on 8/24/12 via the Newegg Shell Shocker to the relevant Diamondmm rebate page; it's not so easy to find since this item is not listed on their rebate page. The URL for the rebate is: The Newegg rebate form can, of course, be found in your order list on the Newegg web site. Hope this helps.

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't play MKV

Pros: Nice looking unit.

Cons: Doesn't play MKV files. I was told that even though it didn't say so on the box that it would after a firmware upgrade. It did not. Returned the next day and got the WD Live Plus. It now happily lives under my TV.

Other Thoughts: If you have no need to play MKV files this might work fine for you.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy!

Pros: I have owned this item for about 7 months. I have had no difficulty playing any of the avi's, MP4's, Xvid's, and DivX, movies and TV shows that I have.
Very portable - I have just put it in a bag and taken it to other peoples homes or to work and played things on their TV.
I like that it has an aspect ratio button for Wide screen smart stretch or normal I use it for different kinds of T.V.'s that don't have the option.
I have had no problem figuring it out. The menus on mine are in english but you can choose a lot of other languages if you want to.
I also own a different brand that I have hooked up to a T.V. in my home that cost a lot more and this one does everything that one does for a lot less money
I highly recommend this item and it is a great price to.

I have hooked a hard drive to it and flash drives

Cons: I haven't had any problems with this item. I haven't tried the card reader or the HDMI interface. just the component, composite and USB.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a portable player because I didn't want to take my other one out of the house. I actually like this one better.

2 out of 5 eggsMenu in Chinese

Pros: Plug and play, stylish design.

Cons: Menu is not in English. Navigation and menu settings are in Chinese and the Reset button on the remote does not change anything.
