Pros: Got this as a Black Friday Special. It comes with recording software which works great. I love the fact that you can import the recorded files into iMovie and work from there. I was considering getting an old PCI card for video capture, but this was a much better choice.

Cons: For the low price, no gripes here!

Other Thoughts: I was previously using one of those under-$10 EasyCAP devices. It worked great under Windows XP, but no 64-bit drivers for Windows 7. I'm glad I made the transition as this also saves time from booting out of Win7 and rebooting into my Hackintosh.

Pros: Plugged it into my macbook pro with an older, tape-based (analog) cam-corder at the other end. It takes a couple minutes for the software to recognize the signal coming from the cam-corder. Initially with software version 1.4.9 it did not recognize the video but got the audio. After going to the manufacturer's web site and downloading the latest software (v1.5.1) the video worked well also. The laptop screen shows some streak artifacts both on the original video play and in the recorded version, but overall the video quality was decent. I used an S-video connection.

Cons: not 100% artifact free in the video, but pretty good. You'll need your own connecting cable. The device has all female ends, as does my cam-corder output, so it is designed to take an extension/connection cable.

Other Thoughts: Eliminates the need for a video capture card on a PC, or similar device. I got it on sale (for $33) and with a ($18) rebate from the manufacturer, so this is a much cheaper alternative
