1 out of 5 eggsCan not play HD properly

Pros: Android OS and awesome remote

Cons: Super slow, takes forever to load anything.
Returned this as it is incapable of playing HD even from LOCAL SD card. It can display 1080p but the processer is incapable or decrypting full HD video.

4 out of 5 eggsbetter user experience than expected

Pros: 1. Android system, what can beat this?
2. Natively rooted by manufacturer, Play store is wide open now.
3. The included Air Fly mouse is unbelievable. It is gem of this box. This is a WII style mouse, very easy to use. You will be addicted, I promise you.
4. Pretty smooth operation overall.
5. I can install every app I wanted to install, amazing

Cons: 1. 512 MB RAM, however I don't feel much slower than other 1GB android box I tried.
2. frequently app crash (my own apps, not the system app), that indicate the firmware is not very stable

Other Thoughts: The user experience on this one surpassed Minix X5 with more RAM and better CPU. The fly mouse is BIG HUGE plus. Once you use it, you will NOT go back to mouse and keyboard. Overall very good user experience. My wife and my parents all like it very much. It is not perfect but it is good life for online entertainment.

2 out of 5 eggsThe Others Are Right

Pros: It's on the right track combining Android and the ability to play a long list of media types. I was especially interested in ISO playback.

Cons: Far to many glitches and 'stuttering' to be viable yet. Wait for the 2nd generation from Diamond (if they make one).

Other Thoughts: I might have kept it if it had BACON.

2 out of 5 eggsDiamond AMP1000

Pros: Android operating system (ICS 4.0.3), wireless connection, and price. HDMI video connection, sd memory card and two usb ports a plus.

Cons: System slow. needs faster cpu and more internal memory. Video play shows annoying glitches that sometimes make watching videos impossible. Also more Video formats should be supported.

Other Thoughts: Not recommended at this current stage of the products life.
Major upgrade needed from Diamond on this product.

3 out of 5 eggsThe glitches keep it from being awesome

Pros: + Superior to the Sony Google TV 2.0 Box I just tried
+ Super Customizable
+ My USB Drives, USB wireless keyboard and mouse work
+ Many available Apps and Games like Google Earth, Maps, Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, etc.
+ Plays movies with DTS audio
+ DLNA player
+ Has GMAIL App, Google Voice, Skype, Google+

Cons: Buggy, glitchy and still too experimental - here are some examples:
- The remote doesn't power on the device.
- Apps crash too often
- The remote pointer will suddenly jump all over the screen and do the opposite of what you want it to do.
- The remote gets tired very quickly as it relates to pointing and grabbing of the screen.
- This device calls for persons who are technically inclined. I'm searching for something for my parents, and this is definitely not the device
- While all of my movies can "Play" - they don't play fluidly. some play fine, others stutter and these are 480p or 720p movies.
- This device in general feels a bit under-powered
- It's more of a demo and proof of concept product
- I installed some Apps that don't startup. Such as Google Chrome, it just doesn't load.

Other Thoughts: This device is interesting. It's decently priced, very customizable, and many features. Needs some more work. Could use more power and less app crashes. I'm looking for a device not only for my parents, but another TV in my own house that can be reliable, moderately easy to use, plays back my 720p movie colliection and has web browsing, Google Earth, Games. Well my tablet can do this, I really just want my tablet on a big screen. Seems like there should be a device which can do this. It needs USB ports and Ethernet port. This device is close, but there's some issues holding it back.

4 out of 5 eggsRooted Android ICS

Pros: Bona fide Android 4.03 on your TV with Wii style pointer control. The remote has a pretty good keyboard, and the promised update from Android 2.3 is available for download.

Cons: The wireless connection drops frequently, seemingly strong one minute, gone the next. The device is better suited to the technically inclined than the typical TV user, since it needs more steps than most players to get media to play, and significant setup and customization to load DLNA content.

Other Thoughts: If you like Android on your phone or tablet, you might like the customizability of this player over WD or Roku boxes. The system is pre-rooted, so you have the freedom to change whatever you want (or to mess it up). I'm still learning what apps are available for the operating system, but its been pretty nice so far. The remote's pointer function is OK for simple media control, but a wireless USB mouse is much nicer for extended sessions - the box instantly connected when I plugged in my Logitech M305 dongle (a welcome surprise).
