does it come with remote plus controller?

Comes with the game style controller only. Does not come with a TV style remote. Game controller works great for Youtube and Kodi. Only drawback is needing to be charged regularly. About once a week with nightly use.

Question 2

can i download any app from the Google play store as I would from an android phone or tablet?  I only saw google play movies or tv shows but do I have full access to apps from the play store?

Accepted Answer

Many apps are available from the play store but definitely not all. The ones it does not pull up can be side loaded. Side loaded apps sometimes work with the controller and some need a mouse to simulate touch. It's taking developers a while to make them compatible with Android TV/controller support.

Question 3

I have a Asus 28" 4k computer monitor. Would there be any problems hooking up a Shield to it?
I don't want to use the 2 watt speakers in the monitor. How would I pipe the audio to something else?

Accepted Answer

No as long as your monitor has HDMI input it should be not problem. The shield console also has the ability to support audio via USB, so you could pipe it that way or get a usb to aux adapter an plug it into anything that takes standard auxiliary input.

Some monitors have the auxiliary input built in (for headphones), so you could connect the shield via HDMI and then push that to speakers or a stereo system, etc. via the auxiliary too.

Does this device have a micro SD slot, like the Shield Tablet?

Yes and from my tests supports so far up to a 256gb micro SD card.

how do you get the games do have steam to acess or something?

If you have a newer Nvidia graphics card in you computer you can stream most controller supported game to the shield and even non-controller games as you can hook up a mouse and keyboard to the shield.  Steam has the best support for it because of there big picture mode but Origin and Ubuntu games can also be streamed.  Then there is Nvidia's own service where you can buy or rent games and stream them from one of their very powerful servers playing what ever game it is a or above console quality.  After that you have Android games and special Android games that are made just for this device because of its great built in GPU.  If you have a decent internet connection I have never seen any problems streaming from my computer or from Nvidia.  Out of all the new consoles and computers I have this thing streams videos and Netflix faster and in better quality than anything else with up to 4K video out support.

yes...the game style controller, I had the roku style controller...and it got lost.  It was great adn there are some things that the other one is just better at doing

could i use an external drive?

It allows you to attach a drive to access media (music, video, etc...), but not for storage. The only way I can extend local storage and move apps is to a sd card. This really isn't made clear up front and I don't know what the roadmap holds. Other than that it is a very capable media machine and obviously best in its class for gaming.
