5 out of 5 eggsThis thing is really great

Pros: How well this thing works out of the box is amazing. It finds a way to connect to your wifi with no effort on your part. You literally plug this device into your TV and go to the specified URL.

I have watched hours of netflix on this device over this last week, several youtube videos, and even just some surfing the web.

You can control this thing very easily from your laptop or cell phone.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Streams Netflix without a problem. Easy to set up. It will access your home WIFI network or 4G through your phone.

Cons: I have to access it through a smart phone or tablet. Not a con, but it's a requirement.

Other Thoughts: Using the app on my tablet, I stream Netflix on my 8-year-old Samsung plasma TV. The Chrome app turns my TV on and then selects the correct HDMI source from 3 inputs on my TV. If the TV is already on, it automatically switches to the correct HDMI. You select whether you want to use your cell phone WIFI or your home WIFI. Previously, I had hooked up my TV to my computer's graphic card along with RCA hookups for sound with 50' extension HDMI and sound cables. The Chromecast WIFI is so much easier.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks Great...unless kept on for too long...

Pros: I've been using this thing for months. I really do like it. I listen to a lot of Pandora music and occasionally watch Netflix and so this thing made it a breeze. The pictures it displayed were exceptionally beautiful as well! Super easy to set up and get going. I loved being able to cast Google chrome tabs to it as that made it so I could open video files on my computer with chrome and have them cast to the TV.

Cons: If you leave it on 24/7 expect some difficulties with it occasionally. I would occasionally have issues where no device could stream to it for more than a minute before the remote functionality of the device would get disconnected. That was pretty annoying. Anytime this happened I had to reach behind my TV to unplug the thing and replug it in which was quite a pain.

Other Thoughts: For the price, it's certainly a competitive device. With the Apple TV at $69, unless you're really looking to save $20, I'd probably weight the Apple TV rather heavily against the chrome cast just due to the features available to it. That's just my opinion, though.

1 out of 5 eggsAfter owning it for several months, I have to change my review

Pros: Worked well

Cons: The HDMI connector broke after just 3 months. During this time the device was plugged into my receiver in my home theater setup. I can see no reason why such an undemanding location would end in a broken device.

Other Thoughts: The device was brilliant - while it lasted. But I give it 1 egg, because lasting only 3 months is simply unacceptable. Furthermore, I've found myself unable to contact Google for a warranty replacement in any way - I will keep looking, but if this is the case then this will be the last Google-manufactured product I buy for awhile.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks but slow to get new phones

Pros: For $20 how can you really go wrong. Got it on a shell shocker.

Cons: Will not mirror my new phone (Droid Turbo). Worked great on my old one (S3). Check the compatibility chart.

Other Thoughts: Don't use it as much as I thought I would but it was worth the money.

5 out of 5 eggsVery handy little device

Pros: When used with a third party streaming program... This becomes a very handy device. I stream anything I want from my media server on my network. I have read reviews about issue with overheating and network issues. I do notice it gets very hot... but hasn't turned off yet, and has not gotten hot enough to be concerned. If you get this device... I highly recommend looking for an app like I have.

Cons: Without third party app... not a useful

5 out of 5 eggsBest investment made for cheap

Pros: Works great for streaming Netflix, Pandora, Google Music, Plex and tons of other apps from my computer, android phone, or wife's apple devices.
Can't really beat it for it's price compared to capability.

Cons: Only real issue, which is minor, is that chrome browser video playback can be choppy at times. I'd also like to see more apps supported, but it is continuing to improve in both situations.

Other Thoughts: Originally bought this at Best Buy with the idea that if it sucks, I'm only out $35. Since purchasing this, my wife has been using it non stop to watch her Taiwanese shows on the large plasma TV instead of her laptop or iPad.
The fact it works well with Plex and Netflix also means I don't need to run an extra long HDMI cable from my computer to the TV.
Ended up picking one up for my father for Christmas as well due to the amount of use I've personally had at home with it.
