1 out of 5 eggsBuy a different card

Pros: If you get it to work, you get 4-USB 3.0 ports.

Cons: I was using this with Win XP-32 in one PC. It worked fine and was recognized.
When I pulled it from that PC and connected it to a new PC with Win7-64, not recognized.
Came with beta drivers and less than good directions.
Downloading new drivers (slow site). Latest driver 2.1B.
Haven't yet gotten it to work.

Other Thoughts: First, Device Mgr would give yellow dot for bad drivers but after installing new drivers, it said it was working properly but did not see ext drive or flashdrive.

I also bought the GMYLE (TM) PCI-Express 4 Ports USB 3.0 With 4-Pin Molex Power NEC D0720201 Chipset Control Card Adapter and it worked fine.

1 out of 5 eggs3.0 pain

Pros: price and that's it

Cons: no windows sign cert., not reliable.

Other Thoughts: If you want this card to work, that is so you can access any attached drives. Be prepared to spend any hours installing it over and over any and be prepared, if you are running windows vista or 7 to spend even more time to get it to work. If you are thinking of connecting a hub, have fun with that. Because there is no windows certified signature, your device mgr. is going to always freak out about the card. I will be buying something else and will think twice about purchasing anything from this manufacturer.

1 out of 5 eggsHORRIBLE. Do not buy

Pros: None. Literally.

Cons: Never worked out of box. I purchased a 4-pin power cord like other reviewers advised. Old driver on CD, so I downloaded newest from direct from manufacturer and VIA (chip set used on card). Spent many, many hours trying to get this thing to work. Nothing. Some instructions on manufacturer site required to put Win7 in driver testing mode at startup to install uncertified driver. Nothing. Tech support, although nice, was completely unhelpful. RMA? Yeah, right. They said go through Newegg. I informed them that period had past, they said they'd get back to me. That was 4 weeks ago. HORRIBLE card, under par support.

I bout a different 4-port usb3 card (3 in front, 1 in back), *same* VIA chip set. Work out of the box within 60 seconds of installing.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Lose the CD

Pros: Very nice and clean add on card. Solidly built.

Cons: Take a look at the card and also the packaging for it here on the Newegg website. There is no indication anywhere that it is built by "Good Way Technology Company" or "GWC". After the card is installed the device manager in the computer never sees the manufacturer. The manufacturer website has the drivers for the 2 port USB 3.0 card but that is NEC and this card has a VIA chipset.
The CD has no name on it. Just, "USB Drivers".
After I installed it there were three drivers installed but now I have a fourth "unknown device" showing up in Device Manager.
The USB 3 transfer rates for this from an X58 motherboard to a WD USB 3.0 external hard drive was 100 GB in thirty minutes. About 55 MBS. Sounds slow but it probably is about right for these cards.

Other Thoughts: After buying this I have done some research on USB 3 add on cards in general. The technology is not there yet. All of the cards fail to some degree.
There is an excellent review in VR-Zone from AUG 23, 2011 that shows that none of the chipsets work at USB 3.0 speeds and that there are conflicts even among the same chipset manufacturers.
I have several computers and if there is a problem in the future I doubt that I would remember the manufacturer of this card and if Windows Update does not recognize it then I am out of luck.
It seems that USB 3.0 may not be a good technology until Intel has it built onto the CPU and Windows 8 comes out.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Well Enough If You Do A Few Things First

Pros: Inexpensive, USB 3.0, 4-USB 3.0 Ports...

Will work just fine as long as you get 4-pin molex power to the card, and grab newer/better drivers directly from VIA-LABS.

Cons: Manufacturer support is non-existent; they do not even have the correct driver for this specific card on their site. The driver on the CD that ships with the card is functional, but is an ancient beta and some people have problems with it.
I knocked a star off for bad support.

Other Thoughts: With the latest VIA drivers 1.8a (as of me writing this review), it's a decent card for the money.

This is a VIA card and not NEC.
Just google: VL800 & VL801 USB 3.0 Host Controller – Driver 1.80A
and you will find the right driver at "via-labs" dot com (will be at the bottom of the page)
I would post the direct link but they tend to change and NE does not like links in the reviews.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat on Intel, not working on legacy AMD

Pros: works very well, very fast. 5 eggs!

Cons: Not one except I could not install driver on my legacy (not so legacy) AMD because of blue screen during installing process. I hope the producer will release an updated version of driver

Other Thoughts: 2 cards bought. I would have liked to update my multimedia pc that is W7 Utltimate 64 bit sp1, AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ on Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H. After mounting the card, when I started to install drivers come with the card on cd and I got blue screen. I tried several times, I have reinstalled W7 from scratch but still noting to do! On the main pc , W7 Utltimate 64 bit sp1, Intel Q9550 on Asus P5Q3 DELUXE WiFi@n it works greatly, I've installed both cards on this pc and copying from a disk to another disk plugged in the other card is very fast.

1 out of 5 eggsDont buy

Pros: Dontk now any pros yet

Cons: I was able to get it to work with a thumb drive but when I plug in my Iphone to charge or sync it either gives me a BSOD or doesn't connect to it. If I plug in my computers USB port it works fine.

2 out of 5 eggspiece of $hi+

Pros: works as extra usb 2.0 sockets

Cons: Supposedly this is usb 3.0, installed in an old amd pc I have (xp5000) that happenbed to have a pci-e x1 slot per intructions and for the life of me I can't get this to transfer any faster than a usb 2 slot. Tried different usb 3 external drives and a different pc/motherboard, same result.

Other Thoughts: Maybe I got a lemon, but only reason it's not 1 egg is it partially works. Not worth an rma as return shipping is a sizable chunk of the item cost, better luck with a different brand.

5 out of 5 eggsMust buy mloex

Pros: Works great for 3.0 devices. Must buy molex 4pin connector if you don't have one already. This is a must!
Only cost a few dollars. Buy it from newegg when you order the card.
Don't waste time like I did!

Cons: They should have provided the molex

Other Thoughts: Must buy 4 pin molex!
